In August, the next champion in League of Legends will be released. His name is Yone, and he will be a melee fighter wielding two swords. We at MeinMMO will tell you everything about his abilities and when you can play as Yone.
Who is Yone? Yone is the brother of the most played champion in the MOBA, Yasuo, according to Riot. According to the lore, he was already defeated and killed by his brother. However, Riot has developed a special story to bring him back into the world of the living and make him even stronger.
In this process, Yone also received his second blade, returning to the game as a mix of assassin and skirmisher.
Some aspects of his gameplay will remind players of Yasuo, but there will also be clear differences.
When will Yone be released? According to the new information from Riot Games, Yone is supposed to be released on August 5 with patch 10.16, just 2 weeks after the new champion Lillia.
We will provide you with more details on his abilities, skins, and the lore.
Two swords and a lot of damage
What can Yone do? Yone has access to a passive ability, three normal abilities, and an ultimate ability. There are no crazy features, like the 5 different weapons of Aphelios.
Notably, Yone has a stacking form with his Q, similar to Yasuo. He can also launch opponents into the air with his Q and his ultimate, which could harmonize perfectly with Yasuo:
- Passive – Way of the Hunter: Yone uses two blades, causing every second attack to deal additional magical damage. Additionally, his critical hit chance doubles, but critical hits deal less damage.
- Q – Mortal Steel: Yone rushes towards an opponent and deals normal damage. Upon hitting, he receives a stack of “Gathering Storm.” With two stacks, Yone can leap forward with a wave, launching opponents into the air.
- W – Soul Stealer: Yone executes a strike in a massive arc that deals damage equal to a percentage of the target’s maximum health. If Yone successfully hits an opponent, he gains a temporary shield that increases in strength with each champion hit.
- E – Unleashed Spirit: Yone can assume the form of a spirit, increasing his movement speed and leaving his body behind. When Yone’s spirit form expires, he returns to his body and deals a percentage of the damage he dealt while in spirit form.
- R – Fated Death: Yone attacks all opponents in his path, teleporting behind the last hit opponent and launching all enemies in his direction into the air.
The story behind Yone
After Yone was killed by his brother Yasuo, he encountered an Azakana, a lesser demon, in the spirit realm. He defeated this demon with all his strength, which, however, led to consequences.
When Yone awoke from his unconsciousness, he found himself back in the world of the mortal, but with a mask that had grown onto his face. This mask, in the form of the Azakana, did not lead to possession, but made Yone stronger.
Riot writes:
Yone can literally tear his soul from his own body and leave his mortal form behind to wander through the spirit world for a short time. In-game, this ability manifests in his E, “Unleashed Spirit,” through which he attacks his opponents and charges damage that he then deals to them as true damage when he returns to his body. However, unlike Zed or LeBlanc, Yone cannot choose whether he returns to his body or not – when the timer runs out, he must return.
Yone discovered while hunting other Azakana that they have names, and that one can trap them using their names in his mask. He is now trying to find out the name of his Azakana to understand why he was not allowed to die.
He also acquired a sword from an Akazana, which he now wields in his left hand.
Yone receives a skin themed for Spirit Blossom
What skins does Yone have? At release, you can play Yone in his basic appearance (see image above) and in a special skin fitting the current “Spirit Blossom” event.
The skin removes the mask, allowing the champion to shine in purple, and even the evil demon sword looks much less menacing in this version.
If you want to learn more about Yone, the new trailer released last week for the champion might be worth checking out, and it has been celebrated by many fans.
