In League of Legends, Riot has introduced the new champion “Akshan”. His W ability “Going Rogue” is already causing a stir: The new LoL champ can revive teammates through his passive ability. Riot Games clarifies: This can even happen when Akshan himself is dead.
This ability is the focus: The new champion Akshan has the ability “Going Rogue” mapped to the “W” key.
The passive (always activated) part of the skill has this special effect:
- If an opponent kills one of Akshan’s teammates, they are marked as a “Scoundrel”.
- If Akshan defeats one of these scoundrels, he receives bonus gold and all teammates who were killed by that scoundrel are revived at the base.
Akshan can revive teammates, even when he is dead
This is what Riot says now: The Riot Games employee who designed Akshan has further clarified the scope of the ability: Indeed, Akshan can also revive players when he is already dead.
To do this, he must have dealt damage to the scoundrel 3 seconds before his death.
A small consolation: Akshan cannot revive himself in this way.
However, in a fast group fight, where a lot can happen in 3 seconds, the “passive” could prove to be game-changing.
The developer, from whom the statement comes, says, however: An extreme situation, where Akshan revives the whole team through an Ignite kill after his death, has not occurred in the test games.
Furthermore, Akshan has a relatively low skill to consistently deal damage. His wave clear is also significantly worse than that of Sivir, for example.
This is how the ability is being discussed: The YouTube comments are filled with statements about how extremely strong Akshan is, especially his “W”. Other champions have had their resurrection abilities restricted, so that now such a powerful passive ability comes into play, few can understand (via YouTube):
- “Aatrox’s resurrection is being removed, but a passive like this comes into play? WTF”
- “Honestly: The W passive not only needs to be nerfed but should be totally removed. I really don’t understand who thought it was a cool idea to make it a passive and not even an ultimate, but just a W. It really doesn’t make sense and doesn’t seem fun.”
- “He has a batarang, a grapple, stealth, bonus gold, and he doesn’t care if his sidekick dies. Please give this champion a skin that looks like Batman.”
- “His W should be his ultimate. Holy shit.”
- “I just want to remind everyone that Blitzcrank’s W slows him down.”
