The lore of League of Legends has some exciting details about the different champions, including their size. However, this is hardly recognizable in the MOBA.
What does LoL get wrong? Looking at the lore of League of Legends, the portrayal of many champions in the MOBA is “wrong.” This became clear to some LoL players in the game’s subreddit when the new champion “Naafiri” was introduced.
Naafiri is a roughly 7 feet (2.13 meters) tall dog that operates with her pack on the mid-lane. Furthermore, Naafiri is a new assassin that is supposed to be beginner-friendly.
The information about how tall Naafiri is according to the lore sparked a debate about the sizes of the different champions. The post gathered over 320 comments and 2,100 upvotes (via Reddit).
The dog is over 2 meters tall, hardly a household pet that a family would keep. According to DotEsports, Naafiri is significantly taller than the magical cat Yuumi, who is only about 0.20 meters tall. However, this difference is not noticeable in LoL.
Naafiri is not the only fighter whose stature is not recognizable in the game. There are also champions like Galio, mentioned in the subreddit, who is said to be 48.8 meters tall according to lore. And Malphite is even larger at 103.6 meters.
A size difference like this cannot be represented in LoL, and Riot Games chose a scaling that makes sense for gameplay, which some players noted in the subreddit. Nevertheless, some fans expressed the desire for such scaling to be removed in the upcoming MMORPG.
Fans Hope Different Sizes are Recognizable in the LoL-MMO
What do players wish for the LoL-MMORPG? The discussion about the varying sizes of champions sparked some fans’ thoughts that Naafiri and other characters might be well represented in the planned MMORPG by Riot Games.
The Reddit user DualitiyDrn hopes that the MMORPG can find an appropriate scaling and utilize huge champions as raid bosses (via Reddit). Over 300 players agreed with him with an upvote.
Another user sees the potential in Naafiri to create an amazing mount for the MMORPG (via Reddit).
When you can expect the MMORPG, which is supposed to take place in the world of League of Legends, is currently still unknown. Additionally, 2023 brought bad news for fans, with two important employees leaving the project, including game director Ghostcrawler.
