Although Eintracht Spandau was eliminated from the Prime League Playoffs in League of Legends a few weeks ago, the LoL team has kept its spirits high and celebrated hard at the gamescom 2022. President HandOfBlood was carried by the crowd on their shoulders.
This is Eintracht Spandau:
- The e-sports team from Berlin was founded by Maximilian “HandOfBlood” Knabe and is run by him like a football club.
- The goals of the campaign were to bring more entertainment and sports feeling into e-sports and of course also to secure the EU championship for themselves.
- Since November 2021, the team has thus shaken things up in the Strauss Prime League, but in August 2022 it came to an end. In an exciting match, Eintracht Spandau lost against Schalke 04 Esports and was eliminated from the playoffs.
However, although the dream of the EU championship has momentarily receded, it has not prevented their president HandOfBlood from truly celebrating with the fans at gamescom.
The boss is carried on shoulders
This happened at gamescom: On August 26th at 5 PM, a meeting for all Eintracht Spandau fans took place at the AMD booth in Hall 6 during the gamescom fair.
Although there was a defeat and elimination from the playoffs a few weeks prior, it has not affected the good mood for which Eintracht Spandau and its fans are known.
The hall was filled with people who already sang the team anthem (via Twitter) two hours before the actual start of the event and carried HandOfBlood like a rockstar above the crowd:
After the festive greeting of the fans, awards were given to members who distinguished themselves through special commitment and performance. Almost all of them went to President Knabe, which was met with numerous boos from the fans.
However, the award for the best performance during the splits went to the team of Eintracht Spandau and the coaches. The guys did not let themselves be down by the defeat and received applause from the fans.
Knabe himself also emphasized “out of role”, that Eintracht Spandau is “the coolest shit” he has ever done in his career as a YouTuber.
Clear words were also spoken: President Knabe announced that the team will win the Strauss Prime League. The best LoL players are known to play in Spandau.
Mr. Knabe also expressed harsh criticism of the trophy that is awarded to the winners. Its appearance should be preferably changed by next time because if it is again “such an anal probe”, it will be melted down to make a “real trophy”, said the president.
In the end, questions from the audience were answered and the question of an “Eintracht E-Sport” bar was raised, which is actually in sight. According to manager Mr. Ruhe, there is currently the option for that, but actual implementation is “very complex in current times”.
One has to coordinate with many parties, but if a proper opportunity arises to set up a real Eintracht Spandau bar, they would do it. Despite the defeat, the team is looking optimistically towards the future.
