Player “Tyler1” once referred to himself as the most toxic LoL player in North America. Riot banned all his accounts but is now showing leniency. The developers want to give Tyler1 a second chance and are reviewing the case again.
The LoL community has had a reputation for being particularly negative for several years. This was underscored by player Tyler1, who made a name for himself in the community as an extremely toxic player. In his streams, he insulted other players and trolled around. His behavior became known, and ultimately the developers took harsh measures: a ban for an indefinite period.
However, Tyler1 has apparently learned from his mistakes and wants to improve. He wants to prove to the League of Legends team that he is no longer the toxic Tyler1 that everyone knows. Now, the developers are reacting and reviewing his case again.
The Story Behind “Tyler1”
Toxic players in online games cast a bad light on the community and diminish the enjoyment of the game for others. By intentionally playing poorly or trolling, one helps the opposing team more than their own.
Tyler1 made a name for himself in the League of Legends community with his trolling, referring to himself as the most toxic player in the North American LoL scene. He streamed his matches, where he insulted other players and freaked out. Tyler1 is considered a good player, is very skilled with the champion “Draven,” and plays in the higher Elo ranges.
This mix intrigued viewers – being on the other side and watching someone deal out punishment while still being able to observe high skill. His stream channel on Twitch.TV quickly became popular and regularly attracted several thousand viewers.
Other streamers didn’t like that, and RiotGames felt pressured to act. After Tyler1 received multiple warnings, they resorted to a harsher measure: an ID ban for an indefinite period. All accounts that are verified to belong to Tyler1 are banned. But now the tide is turning.
Second Chance – Accounts Will Be Reviewed
Despite his LoL ban, Tyler1 repeatedly created new accounts where he played League of Legends. He mostly did this while streaming. Viewers saw this, reported it to RiotGames, and they banned Tyler1’s new account. This game of cat and mouse went on for several months.
In between, Tyler1 played other games but continually tried to maintain an account in LoL. But the bans kept coming.
Now there’s a new opportunity for the player, who claims to have significantly improved his behavior. Tyler1 says he is no longer the toxic player who was banned from League of Legends. He supposedly knows how to behave now and has emphasized this repeatedly in his streams. He finally got the chance to prove it. Riot allowed him to create LoL accounts again.
Employees from RiotGames will investigate the accounts Tyler1 played on in the last month. If these are “clean,” meaning they show no violations that would justify a ban, Tyler1 may officially play and stream League of Legends again starting January 2018.
In the coming days, RiotGames will provide a clear explanation of what changes are being made to ID bans, like that of Tyler1. There are now many questions that the team wants to answer.
Just recently, there was an uproar in the Tyler1 case when a (now former) employee of RiotGames wrote about the player: “It’s ok, he will die anyway from a cocaine overdose or testicular cancer from all the steroids … after that, we’re gucci”
