Riot Games has now hinted at what the next 2 new champions in League of Legends will be. Fans can look forward to a marksman with a grappling hook in the midlane and a grumpy Yordle mage.
This is what the next champs have in common: The next two champions coming to LoL are supposed to be directly related to the champion “Viego”. He dominates the story of 2021. Additionally, both will be midlane champions.
In January, Riot Games announced that a total of 6 new champions will come to LoL in 2021:
- All 5 positions are supposed to get a new champ – but the midlane will get 2
- 4 of the champs are supposed to come from the story of Viego, the “Ruined King”
- Now Riot Games is introducing the next 2 new mid-lane characters
Viego came to LoL in January 2021. The last new heroine, top-laner Gwen, was directly connected to his story and was released in April 2021. The next two heroes will also have a direct connection to “The Ruined King”.
Marksman – specially designed for the midlane
This is what LoL says about the next champ: The next champion in LoL will be a marksman designed for the midlane. Normally, these characters are found on the botlane.
Riot Games says: Champions like Lucian, Corki, or Tristana may be played in the middle, but none of the heroes really feel like a “midlane champion”. A typical midlane hero in LoL has a focus on leaving the lane to roam and is focused on duels.

Apparently, the mage is not just supposed to come into the game but is also meant to make her presence felt in the world of LoL beforehand. It is said she would cast her “shadows over LoL.”
On reddit, some users speculate that the mage could be Norra, the long-lost lady from the story of the magical cat Yuumi.

Viego was a terrible king who was stabbed by his wife
This is Viego: In the world of LoL, Viego is a king whose realm fell apart 1000 years ago. He was a great conqueror who fell in love with a beautiful woman, Isolde.

However, because Viego was a terrible king who was only interested in conquering, the young king quickly made many enemies. They set an assassin on him, who did not kill him but instead his beloved wife.
Viego could not accept the loss of Isolde and tried to bring his wife back to life, which he succeeded in doing, but his beloved wife was now without love and soul and eventually stabbed him. This triggered a destruction that consumed his realm.
