On January 19, League of Legends will receive the new patch 12.2, which brings some major changes. In addition to Zeri, there are reworks for two other champions and several balance adjustments. We at MeinMMO summarize the most important points.
What are the highlights of the update?
- The new champion Zeri will be released. She strongly resembles the champion Jinx in terms of gameplay and especially sound and will likely be played as an AD carry in the bot lane.
- The support champion Janna receives a rework.
- Tahm Kench will also receive some adjustments.
- The two champions Yasuo and Yone will receive buffs because they became too weak due to a nerf to an item in the last patch.
- There will be a total of 16 new skins available for purchase.
When will the patch be released? The release of Update 12.2 starts on Tuesday, but only for the oceanic servers. The patch will be available here on Wednesday, January 19, at 5:00 AM.
With the patch, there are usually also short maintenance works, during which the server is not accessible.
Zeri is the newest AD carry in the game
What kind of champion is she? Zeri is a new ranged champion from the region of Zhaun. She especially impresses with her flexibility, as she can leap over walls, destroy enemies’ shields, and slow down opponents.
She is intended as an AD carry in the bot lane, but her abilities could also make her viable in the top lane or jungle.
Her abilities and gameplay are presented in detail by the YouTuber Remus in this video:
The reworks for Janna and Tahm Kench
What changes for Janna? With the new update, there are some buffs and general adjustments to the support champion. Her attack damage and shield have been increased, while her range and passive effect have been slightly reduced:
- Her base movement speed is increased from 315 to 330.
- Her attack damage has been increased from 46 + 1.5 per level to 52 + 3 per level.
- The range of her “Q” is increased from 1,000 to 1,100, and the “travel time” is reduced from 1.5 to 1.25 seconds. Additionally, the mana costs in the late game have been slightly reduced.
- Her “W” ability gets an additional 100 range; the slow duration increases from 2 to 3 seconds; the movement speed from 6–10% to 8–12%; and the damage from 55-175 to 70-190. However, the cooldown is extended to 12 seconds.
- Janna’s “E” gets a reduced cooldown, and the shield lasts longer before decaying slowly (from 0.75 to 1.25 seconds). However, the strength of the shield is slightly reduced. Additionally, the passive effect is changed. Previously, the cooldown was reduced by CC; now Janna gains more healing and shield strength when slowing champions.
- The healing per tick of Janna’s ultimate “R” is reduced, but there are more ticks (from 0.5 to 0.25 seconds). The total healing remains the same.
However, there are also two major nerfs:
- Her attack range is reduced from 550 to 500.
- Her passive effect is adjusted, removing the clause about bonus damage based on her movement speed.
What changes for Tahm Kench? Tahm Kench has been a popular support for many years but has recently been played more in the top lane. The rework aims to bring him back to the bot lane, which should be achieved through adjustments to his gray health with the “E” ability:
- His “Q” now slows by 50% instead of 40%.
- The damage to his gray health from the “E” ability is altered. If only one enemy is nearby, it scales significantly weaker. If there are 2 or more enemies around him, the gray health retains its old effect.
- His ultimate “R” is strengthened, so the shield is now stronger at base and scales better with AP.
