The developers of Riot Games have decided to redesign the in-game shop of League of Legends. After numerous champion reworks in recent years, the prices are no longer up to date, especially for new players. But what exactly are the developers changing?
How are the new prices structured? New prices are being set for the more than 160 champions currently playable in League of Legends. The price tier for blue essences (BE) remains the same, but many champions have been shuffled around:
- 450 BE / 260 RP – Here are placed champions that Riot believes would provide a good entry into the game. This includes champions like Miss Fortune, Yuumi, and Malphite.
- 1350 BE / 585 RP – Champions that are a bit more complex, yet still exciting and interesting for new players, are placed here. A bit of skill is required for them. Examples for this tier include Yasuo, Lucian, and Sett.
- 3150 BE / 790 RP – This includes champions with a steeper learning curve, where success with the champion can only be seen after some practice. Examples are Le Blanc, Shaco, and Yorick.
- 4444 BE / 880 RP – For this tier, “only perfection and beauty” are planned. Which champion this will correspond to has not been officially disclosed.
- 4800 BE / 880 RP – This price category is where most champions are parked. For some specific champions, however, the price in Riot Points (RP) remains the same. This includes champions like Kayle, Ryze, Twisted Fate, and Singed, all at 260 RP.
- 6300 BE / 975 RP – Here are the champions released in the last two seasons. Once the seasons are over, the characters will be placed in a different price category at the start of the next season.
- 7800 BE / 975 RP – Champions only stay in this tier for one week after their release.

What other adjustments are there? In addition to price adjustments, new champion packs are to be created. The developers want to orient themselves to both the champion tier and the game mechanics and roles.
This will allow new players to quickly build their collection. All in all, champions without discounts cost 140,606 Blue Essences or 14,905 Riot Points. How you get Blue Essences, we will show you here.
If you want to get the champions even cheaper than in the in-game shop, you can take advantage of the reward system for leveling up.
The changes are set to come with Patch 13.5. A good tip is to acquire the currently cheap champions before they slide into a more expensive tier and you will have to pay more blue essences. Additionally, you can wait a bit with purchases of expensive champions, as characters like Yasuo and Yuumi will be significantly cheaper in the future.
What does the community think about it? The changes mainly target players who are relatively new to the game. This causes some frustration among long-time players who already own all champions and have an abundance of Blue Essences. Long-time players also wish that Yuumi becomes untouchable and cannot be played by anyone by raising the price to 800,000 BE:
However, for players who are relatively new to the game and do not yet know which champion to buy next, the changes are beneficial. They can orient themselves to the new price categories.
