In League of Legends the decisive matches are coming up: In South Korea, Gen G. plays against T1 for the championship in the LCK. A streamer from Gen G. is the 23-year-old Slovenian Nemesis, a former midlaner for Fnatic. He explains the meta of LoL with patch 12.14: In his view, it’s all about the ADC right now. He believes the role is completely ‘broken’.
This is the situation: In the final of the LCK on Sunday, August 28th, 2 of the best teams in the world will face off:
- Gen G., who are extremely strong in every position. With Chovy (21, Mid-Lane), they have a player who has previously carried mediocre teams to the Worlds. At Gen G., he now has significant help from experienced players like Ruler (24, Bot), Peanut (23, Jungle), or the mega-talent Doran (22, Top).
- T1 is the team around the legendary midlaner Faker (26), who in this new version of T1 is supported by a brilliant but young botlane with Keria (19, Support) and Gumayusi (20, ADC).
- Both teams have already secured a ticket to the Worlds 2022 with their entrance to the final. The “Best-of-5” series on Sunday will determine who wins the South Korean championship.
T1 even managed to knock the vice-world champions DWG KIA out of the race in the semifinals:

What does Nemesis say about the meta in LoL? The former midlaner Nemesis now works as a streamer for the South Korean team Gen G.. He has watched all of Gen G’s games and most of T1’s. In an interview with Inven, he gives his team, Gen G., a 70-30 chance of winning the final.
He says the current meta in LoL is extremely tailored to the ADC (via inven):
Because of the current meta, every ADC plays 1 against 9. It’s unbelievable that Riot hasn’t nerfed them yet. When the game reaches a certain point and every champ has built 2 or 3 items, it just becomes an ADC show. Any other role in the game has nothing to say. If I had to play any other roles, I would be so angry that I had to play that role.
If any other role were so broken, the whole community would freak out. But it’s the ADC – so it’s okay.”
According to Nemesis, the best tactic for T1 to beat Gen G. would be to ban either 3 strong ADCs or Yuumi.
He says: Yuumi, Zeri, and Sivir are probably the best bans against Gen G. If Lehends, the supporter of Gen G., gets his hands on Yuumi, he will have a 100% win rate anyway.

What do others think? In a video interview by LEC (via youtube), the jungler from G2, Jankos, talks about the “hyper-carries” being played in the bot lane: He primarily sees Aphelios, Sivir, Twitch, and Zeri here. In the mid lane, CC characters are played more and in the jungle Bruisers.
Other active professionals like Neon also see the hyper-carries in the bot lane right now, especially when they are combined with “enchanter” supports.
