These five LoL streamers have actually hung up their professional player boots. Now they are back and want to shake up the Challenger League. The Echo Fox Challenger Team in LoL consists of 5 stars.
These are good news for LoL fans: Five legends of the North American LCS are now teaming up in the new Echo Fox team and want to stir up the Challenger scene together. With their return to the professional player scene of League of Legends, some people no longer expected this. Are they still strong enough to take on the Challenger scene?
Strong Team – Fun is the Goal
Apparently, some fans who watched the North American LCS are now becoming Challenger team fans. The new team from Echo Fox consists of legends from the scene:
- Michael Imaqtpie Santana
- Marcus Dyrus Hill
- William scarra Li
- Danny Shiphtur Le
- Joedat Voyboy Esfahani
The popular LCS analyst Mark MarkZ Zimmerman is supporting the team as coach. Together, they want to take on the teams of the Challenger scene and show what they can do. But they don’t just want to win: The goal is “To have more fun than any other professional team”. And that’s what the streamers are known for from their live broadcasts.
The team’s goal is therefore not only to form a professional team but also to entertain the fans. We can already look forward to that.
Live Audience instead of Twitch Chat – From Stream back to the Stage
Each of the players has a career in League of Legends and the LCS – whether as a coach or as a player. Nowadays, however, people associate the guys more with their streams. They have some of the largest Twitch fan communities in the LoL area and they collectively have nearly eight million fans on their social networks.
- Dyrus announced with tears in front of his fans in 2015 that he was stepping down from his player position after four years with his team “TSM”. In the official announcement from the new team Echo Fox, he said that he misses the energy of the crowd and the challenge of professional play and is now coming back.
- Scarra was actively involved with Team Dignitas for a long time and gained many fans there with skill and his friendly demeanor. Recently, he has been active in two League of Legends talk shows.
- Imaqtpie stepped down from his position as ADC with Team Dignitas in 2014 and now earns about 2 million dollars annually with his extremely popular Twitch stream.
- Voyboy played among others in Team Curse and was also active as a streamer afterwards. Together with Dyrus, he was invited by Blizzard to participate in a charity event for Heroes of the Storm.
- Shiphtur also played for a long time in Team Dignitas. His streams are also doing well and have a loyal fanbase.
- MarkZ is particularly popular with fans as an analyst of the NA-LCS and has already impressed with interesting singing performances.
With these personalities combined in one team, it should be clear that fun will have high priority. “When the guys play, you will see high-level games that you won’t find again in this form,” says CEO Jace Hall. “We spoke with the former pros and it was clear that they want to come back. They want it and their fans want it. We are creating something really fun and cool for eSports.”
Whether the popular pros will stream less now is still unclear. Perhaps they will simply stream their training on their live channels and intentionally share their tactics with the opponents to still manage to win.
Later this month, they will compete in the Challenger scene. This should give a decent viewer boost for this League of Legends live format. We are curious about the tactics and champions with which the Echo Fox team will entertain us.
