Riot Games has introduced the new update 13.1b for League of Legends: There are many balance changes, buffs, and nerfs. However, the players of League of Legends have one main topic: Yuumi. The nasty little cat has apparently meowed for the last time. Everyone agrees: The patch brings some of the most severe nerfs in LoL’s history. A Riot employee says: Yuumi is supposed to become unplayable for professionals. They are working on a rework.
What’s the deal with Yuumi?
- Yuumi is a very special champ in LoL. She came to the MOBA in 2019: The magical cat is designed so that experienced players can carry a friend to get them excited about the game.
- Yuumi doesn’t have to walk, move, or worry about getting killed, because the cat can merge with another player: She then becomes untouchable and can focus entirely on her abilities, deal damage, buff, or heal her partner.
- What was intended to help beginners ease into LoL has become a deadly weapon in the hands of professionals. For the last few months, Yuumi has been regarded as an absolute killer pick in the hands of professionals, so to speak the “easy mode in LoL”, whoever picked her in the draft could win championships.
Professionals demand Riot Games simply delete the champ Yuumi
How has Yuumi been viewed? Yuumi has long been the absolute hate object of some professional players in LoL, who have repeatedly called for the heroine to be completely removed from League of Legends. There’s nothing left to save. She just needs to go.
This is now the nerf: It’s not just one nerf, there are actually 8. Riot Games says: They have “pushed the previous nerfs a little further”; but the numbers look really bad for Yuumi.
In the base stats:
- attack range decreases from 500 to 425
- base attack damage decreases from 55 to 49
- base health decreases from 550 to 500
- base health regeneration decreases from 7 to 5
Her abilities are also being nerfed:
- In the passive, the attack range now only increases by 25 for this attack. The shield strength decreases from 60-380 to 45-300
- Yuumi’s W is also being nerfed: From 12-20 (+12-20% bonus) it goes down to 12-20 (+6-10% bonus).
- With E, the movement speed decreases from 20% (+2% per 100 ability power) to 20% (No scaling with AP).

- “This is one of the hardest nerfs I have ever seen. The attack range is gone, her soft stats became even softer. The AP ratio has been destroyed, her base stats reduced. They are basically taking her out of the game without taking her out of the game.”

Riot says: Yuumi should completely disappear from the professional game

Yuumi is too strong in the professional game, and heroes that are too strong there are simply nerfed. However, it is said that they are working on a rework for Yuumi. Then they could let her off the “hook” again.
They have been tinkering with Yuumi for 18 months now, and it hasn’t worked. She has only become an increasingly larger problem in the professional game and has been getting weaker for casual players:
- People have told Riot that Yuumi’s state is unacceptable.
- They agree.
With the current patch, they want to completely remove Yuumi from professional play, making her difficult to use in solo queue for a while now.
What’s next for Yuumi: RiotAxes says they are working on an update that should bring her back to solo play, but no longer into professional play.
In a future version, Yuumi should be more dependent on her ADC partner so that she cannot simply leave him later in the game.
However, no timeline can yet be given for the update.
