The biggest problem in League of Legends are the teammates. Besides individual mistakes and sometimes a lack of skill, intentional trolls are particularly problematic. Many demand a permanent ban for these players. A developer explains why it is not that simple.
What is the deal with feeders and trolls? In LoL, players can easily ruin the match for their teammates:
- On one hand, you can continually die, giving the opponent extra gold and a lot of freedom on their lane. This is also called feeding.
- Another option is to generally “troll”. This involves sabotaging your own team, for example, through foolish decisions, not participating in team fights, or simply leaving your lane to steal creeps from your jungler.
Both are obviously detrimental to the gaming experience of other players. This is why fair players particularly demand consistent and especially swift action from the developer Riot Games. However, speed is not as easy as developer HuntedFork confirms on Reddit.

What does the developer say? In a comment, the user SnowyyRaven wrote: “The problem is not the severity, but the detection of it. It is complicated to write a system that recognizes this behavior without banning innocent players.“
The Riot employee commented on this statement with a “Exactly that” and added: “But for the record, feeding is a reason for a permanent ban“ (via Reddit).
Is Riot doing nothing? It can’t be said like that. There are indeed occasional bans, but there are still many trolls who somehow slip under the radar. This includes YouTubers who intentionally lose matches for their viewers’ entertainment.
Additionally, Riot Games regularly tries to make the community more positive, such as through bans in ranked matches when people behave negatively, or changes to the chat system. In fact, it feels like the situation has improved a bit in recent years compared to 2018/19.
