For a long time, LoL players had to wait for a rework of Galio. This rework changes the attacks and appearance of the champion in patch 7.6.
In League of Legends, older champions are reviewed by developers and equipped with a new look or new abilities. Major overhauls are called “reworks” and have already been done for Yorick, Warwick, and Ryze.
In the latest rework, Riot has taken the grieving protector Galio. The video shows that Galio is more than satisfied with his new look and continues to provide CC with his skills.
A mighty colossus awaits us
In the impressive video teaser, we see what awaits us with the new Galio. Visually, even the skin conveys a different feeling than in the “old” version. The golden accents emphasize that this is a “buffed” champion. With his abilities, Galio also demonstrates that CC is still an important part of his kit.
Soon, Riot will introduce what Galio’s new attacks do in another video. Until then, we have to draw conclusions from the teaser video. It looks like he has a gap-closer/dash that lifts a struck opponent into the air and then throws them down. This could possibly be split into two attacks: gap-closer and knock-up.
Furthermore, there is a wind attack that already existed in a similar form in his old kit. These whirlwinds apparently deal damage to struck opponents, as can be seen from the knocked-over Talon in the video.
Another attack seems to have a huge range. It probably is his new ultimate ability that targets an area. After a short time, Galio flies to the marked spot and has a large impact radius (similar to Pantheon). Enemies within this radius are knocked away. It appears that this ability has two areas of effect: one close to Galio and one that is a bit further away. In the image, you can see it by the separated rings surrounding Galio.
It is possible that enemies in the outer ring are “only” knocked back, while in the inner ring they are taunted or take more damage.
So far, these are just speculations based on the video. As soon as Riot releases the next video or further information about this rework in the coming days, we will likely get to know Galio’s abilities even better.
