In League of Legends, Season 10 is coming to an end. Riot Games has now provided an outlook on the changes of Pre-Season 11, which will begin in November. Among other things, the completely new Mythic Items will be introduced.
What will change? The Pre-Season aims to bring larger changes that can be thoroughly tested after the Worlds 2020 are over and before the new tournaments and rankings start in Season 11.
The following innovations are planned for Pre-Season 11:
- There will be a major overhaul of items and the shop.
- New Mythic Items will be introduced.
- Healing effects will generally be reduced, as they have become excessive.
- The cooldown reduction will be revised, so it will be called “Ability Haste” in the future and will scale linearly instead of exponentially.
- Tenacity, the value against CC effects, will now also work against knock-ups.

Mythic Items as Cornerstones of Your Build
What are the Mythic Items? These new items are items of which you can only have one at a time. They are particularly powerful, have a passive effect that enhances your other “finished items”, and are intended to serve as cornerstones of your build.
The appearance of the items was showcased by lead designer Mark “Scruffy” Yetter on Twitter. He posted three images showing AD items:
- The Crimson Shieldbow is intended for AD champions who want a bit more defense in the form of life steal and a shield.
- The Behemoth Slayer is completely focused on damage.
- Galeforce is an item that has a dash as an active effect, which can be particularly useful when enemies can pull you in, for example, with Thresh or Blitzcrank.
Not all Mythic Items are intended to be completely new. Some older items will be adjusted and upgraded to a Mythic Item.
In general, Riot has stated that they are reviewing all 200 items in the game and making adjustments to ensure they fulfill their purpose. About 1/3 should remain the same, 1/3 slightly adjusted, and 1/3 completely revised:
- Jungle items will no longer be expandable with gold after the first purchase, similar to support items.
- AD carries will receive more strategic options, e.g., an item with AD + armor.
- Mages will also get more options, including an item that supports massive range.
- AD assassins will receive new late-game items.
- For tanks, items with more versatility and magic resistance are planned.
- AP fighters will get a new option whose first item has no mana, but contains defensive stats – including the new item Cursed Demonhelm, which was shown in the video.
However, it is important to note that the entire system is still under construction and further changes will be made before November.
New Shop Interface: Along with the Mythic Items, a new shop will also be introduced. The new version aims to be clearer and more user-friendly.
The item recommendations are also expected to improve and become significantly “smarter”.
When can the changes be tested? According to Mark Yetter, the innovations are expected to be available soon on the PBE, the test server of LoL. Currently, the changes for patch 10.19 are being implemented, which will also bring Set 4 for the Auto Chess Teamfight Tactics and the new LoL champion Samira.
