The new champion for LoL (League of Legends) in 2019 is Sylas. He is a mage and has now been introduced in the trailer. The special thing: The new hero can copy the ultimates of other champions. He apparently even adapts “weak ultimates”. The LoL community is already discussing this intensively.
What is new? A few days ago, the developers of League of Legends hinted at the new hero for 2019. However, only with abstract images.
Now the first trailer for Sylas has been released. It gives insight into the champion’s story. Additionally, important gameplay elements are showcased.
Apparently, Sylas can interact with and use the ultimate abilities of opponents.
Trailer gives first hints at Sylas’ skills
What does the trailer show? In the video, we see the already known golden chains again. Players saw these in the first teaser images of Sylas.
A few of Sylas’ skills are also demonstrated. An interesting aspect is the interaction with the ultimate abilities of his opponents. These also played an important role in the teaser images.
In the video, Sylas uses these ultimate attacks of his opponents. This works after he first catches the opponents with his heavy, golden chains. Whether this is a prerequisite or whether the chains are simply a CC tool is unclear. But with the golden chains, he apparently steals the ability of his opponents or copies it.
Whether he can only use the attack for a certain period of time or it is unknown.
Players have concerns about ultimate theft: On Reddit, players are excited. Player Solash1 writes: “ULTI THEFT CONFIRMED. ALERT LEVEL RED, ALERT LEVEL RED!”
Others still have concerns about the theft of ultimate abilities. Player BlueWaffleSandwich writes: “I can’t wait to pick Sylas as my first pick and then play against Karma, Nidalee, Elise, Heimerdinger, and Zoe.” The user points out that the theft may not be worth it there.
However, a Riot employee already intervenes in the discussion on Reddit. RiotEarthSlug writes that Sylas is primarily a counter-pick. His Karma, Nidalee, Elise, and Heimerdinger ultimates would be strong.
Sylas likely adapts the stolen ultimates
This is how Sylas’ ultimate works:
- With Nidalee and Elise, he can transform into alternative forms like cat and spider and switch back to his form upon reactivation
- With Karma and Heimerdinger, he can use the ultimate to cast one of their Q/W/E abilities once
- If he steals the ultimate from Teemo and Corki, he receives a full charge of their ultimates. So 7 rockets from Corki or 3 mushrooms from Teemo
- With Zoe’s ultimate, Sylas jumps forward and backward once
