In Season 12 of League of Legends (LoL), Ahri surprisingly belongs to the meta now, after not being very popular in previous seasons. A rework provides excitement. We show you the numbers.
Which champion is it about? Ahri was released in December 2011, making her one of the older champions in the MOBA League of Legends. Now, nearly 10 years after her release, the mage is thriving again. In Season 12, she is now performing really well – with both pros and casual players.
We show you how often Ahri is played now and how often she wins and what actually happened during the rework.
How strong is Ahri in Season 12 of LoL?
This is new now: With the release of Patch 12.3, the rework for Ahri came, transforming the wannabe assassin mage into a mobile mid-laner with much endurance.
After about two weeks, you can already see how significantly the rework impacts her. Currently, she has a pick rate of 13.28%. Before Patch 12.3, it was just over 5%. She is also banned in 12.47% of all matches. The data comes from the website lolalytics.com.
Her win rate also increased: Before the patch, it was 50.21%, now about 51.98%. In the Diamond league and above, it is even at 54.41%.
How does Ahri perform in e-sports? As DotEsports reports, the mage is now well-received by professional players as well. Since Patch 12.3, which was released on February 1, pros in Europe, North America, the second league of Korea, as well as smaller leagues in Japan and Oceania have played her 45 times. According to gol.gg, Ahri achieves a win rate of 51.1% in the professional scene and was banned in 33 games.
What has changed about Ahri? The developers observed that Ahri’s exciting way of playing was only possible when her ultimate ability was available. They revised the mana costs and damage of the mage and adjusted her passive ability as well.
The developers state, “We also redistributed the initial mana costs and damage of her abilities so that every use really matters. To balance it out, we slightly reduced her damage peaks and defensive values.”
Although Ahri is now also liked by professionals, the exact opposite is true for other champions. A pro refuses to play a trendy heroine in LoL, saying “That’s inappropriate.”
