K/DA is the name of a K-pop band from League of Legends, in which champions from the game perform music pieces. In 2018, the band had a huge viral hit. Now, they present their new song “The Baddest.”
What is this new song about? The band, consisting of the 4 champions Akali, Ahri, Evelynn, and Kai’Sa, has released a new song two years after their huge success POP/STARS, which already reached 360 million views.
The new song “The Baddest” premiered on August 27 at 9:00 PM on YouTube, with over 280,000 people watching live.
Who took over the vocals this time? The voices of Akali (Soyeon, from the K-pop band (G)I-dle) and Ahri (Miyeon, also (G)I-dle) remain the same.
However, with Bea Miller and Wolftyla, there are two new voices for the other two champions.
Song gets many likes, even though there are criticisms
How are fans reacting to “The Baddest”? The band’s new song reached over 5 million views and 550,000 likes to around 20,500 dislikes within the first 24 hours. Nevertheless, not all K/DA fans are convinced by the song.
The Baddest contains less rap and is overall a bit “calmer.” Additionally, the video does not display character animations, only the lyrics. Some commenters under the video are already joking that it should not have been the right music video.
However, there is also a lot of positive feedback, as seen in the likes. They particularly recommend the versions on Spotify or iTunes, as they do not suffer from the sound compression that the video apparently does.
Many also hope that more songs with the band will come. After all, this song is a pre-release. There are even hints that the band may soon get new members and Riot Games might even be planning a whole album.
