The Worlds 2024 in League of Legends are coming to an end. The final is set for November 2, 2024, and the finalists have finally been determined. Once again, T1 is in, having shown in the semifinals against their Korean rivals that they can indeed win.
In the past, Gen.G managed to win many matches against T1. They won the Spring Playoffs in 2024 and 2023 against T1. In the Summer Playoffs 2023, they even defeated T1 3 to 0. Also in this year’s Summer Playoffs, Gen.G finished second over T1.
The 23-year-old Chovy is considered by many to be the successor to the great Faker. The match of the Korean stars also interested many viewers, as it had a viewer peak of almost 5 million viewers (excluding Chinese numbers and Korean TV broadcasts), according to Esports Charts (via x.com).
Thus, it is the most-watched game of this year’s Worlds.
However, in the semifinals of Worlds 2024, everything happened a little differently. T1 presented themselves at their best, not only countering the opponents’ champions but also their entire playstyle.
T1 plays best when they are cheeky and aggressive
How did the matches go? In the first match, things started well for Gen.G. They showcased their methodical playstyle, focusing entirely on maximum efficiency. The first match was quite close, and Gen.G managed to gain a slight gold advantage late in the game.
However, at minute 23, T1 started a Baron, which turned into a team fight that Gen.G could have won, but the focus in the fight wasn’t right. After the fight, Gen.G lost control, and T1 was able to win.
In the second match, however, Gen.G was able to show how good their playstyle is. They played methodically, calmly, and structured. T1 could not break through this playstyle, and Gen.G secured the second game.
In the next two matches, T1 showed a cheeky and aggressive side. They broke through the methodology and calm playstyle. Faker performed well with Akali, and Keria visibly enjoyed playing beautifully with a Pyke and a Renata.
T1 won the Best of 5
with 3 to 1. It was evident that T1 always tried to break Gen.G’s calmness, and Gen.G could hardly return to their methodology.
What’s next? T1 will now face the Chinese team BLG in the final of Worlds 2024. The final will take place on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 3 p.m. While T1 struggled before the Worlds, BLG had their problems during the Swiss stage. But above all, T1 has shown since the quarterfinals that they simply play differently during the Worlds: LoL: Faker and T1 crush a world-class team in the quarterfinals of the championship
