Patch 13.17 of League of Legends suddenly transforms a top laner into an invincible mid lane beast. Currently, the Barbarian King personally dominates the mid lane. My MMO reveals what lies behind it.
Which champion is it about? We’re talking about Tryndamere. This champion received huge buffs in patch 13.17. Balancing the now 164 champions seems to be a difficult task. Even small changes can have a massive domino effect on game balance. Thus, a meta can completely waver.
Here you can watch the video about the newly announced champion “Briar”:
After buffs, Tryndamere dominates the mid lane
These buffs/nerfs has Tryndamere received:
- Increased attack range: Raised from 125 to 175. Darius and Trundle also have a range of about 175.
- His base AD was reduced from 72 to 68.
What does the win rate look like? Actually, Tryndamere is considered one of the classic top laners, but currently, he dominates both the top lane and the mid lane.
Alongside Garen with a win rate of 53.66% for all ranks (via U.GG status: 01.09.23), Tryndamere is right on his heels with a win rate of 53.41% for all ranks (status: 01.09.23).
When looking at the statistics in Diamond, he even dominates with a win rate of 56.52% (status: 01.09.23). Even in Bronze, he achieves 55.81% (status: 01.09.23). As it looks, Tryndamere seems to perform remarkably well in both lower and higher ranks.
Also, in the top lane, things look good for Tryndamere, with a win rate of 51.39% for all ranks (status: 01.09.23).
What’s the reason? Hand on heart, everyone has had their issues against Tryndamere – he has had some strong times. We remember the times from 2021, when mid lane Tryndamere instilled fear and terror in us. Pro player “Nemesis” spammed Tryndamere in the mid lane at that time, which led many players to pick the champion.
With his now “longer” arm, he poses a great threat in duels. Tryndamere can land a hit earlier than most melee champions due to his additional range. He can also be quite annoying against mages, which makes him attractive as a mid laner.
Playing against Tryndamere can lead to frustration. His damage is insane, he always gets to you, slows you down, and his ulti saves his … behind time and again.
It is unlikely that Tryndamere will maintain the high win rate. As quickly as the buffs come, the nerf hammer from Riot will swing again in due time. So in the next few weeks, his dominance can change again.
