The popular game mode in League of Legends has been considered too one-sided by the developers and has therefore been changed.
Every Friday, a limited game mode begins in League of Legends, which can be played until Monday. Although there are many different modes in the game mode rotation, these can quickly become one-sided. For example, in the URF mode, there are some champions that are considered “particularly strong” among players and are therefore chosen in many games. To bring more variety to the mode, the developers have come up with a special change.
From URF to ARURF
Urf is a mascot of League of Legends, which has now received a namesake game mode. Urf stands for Ultra Rapid Fire and represents tons of damage and a lot of fun. However, since the same heroes were repeatedly chosen, leaving a strong impression on players, the developers became dissatisfied with the mode. Now randomness is meant to play a big role, transforming URF into All Random-Urf.
On September 23, it’s finally happening, and the mode will go live for the first time on the League of Legends game servers. Similar to the ARAM mode, players will be assigned random heroes by the game in ARURF. However, the mode will be played in the Summoner’s Rift and not in the Howling Abyss. To prevent players from simply leaving the game during champion selection if they don’t like a champion, the developers have come up with something. Dodging in ARURF will be heavily punished!
There will be higher time penalties for leaving the ARURF champion selection. In Nemesis Draft , the time penalties were 2 hours for leaving the selection. However, it should not be as harsh for players in this mode. According to RiotL4T3NCY, a solution between 30 minutes and 2 hours will be found, which players will receive as a penalty for leaving the champion selection in ARURF. So it’s better to try out a new champion in this mode if you don’t want to wait that long for a new game.
If you really don’t want to play the assigned champion at all, you can challenge your luck again with a re-roll. Another random selection will then assign you a new hero. The re-rolls will be shared with those of the ARAM mode. However, they will also recharge faster so that you don’t suffer any disadvantages from this.
