In League of Legends, the victory of the Worlds is a dream for many professional players, for which they give everything, but may never achieve. Included among these players is Deft, who has fought for such a victory his entire life. In 2022, he achieved this dream, and in the latest Worlds video, he is honored for it.
Who is Deft?

- Has participated in the Worlds 7 times
- Was considered one of the best players in the world but never won the Worlds
- At the last Worlds in 2022, he finally achieved his dream and won the world championship title
He has been playing LoL at a professional level for 10 years and finally achieved the highest victory one can achieve in LoL last year. But that’s not all. In the latest video about the Worlds, Deft receives a special honor.

One of the best players who seemed unable to win the Worlds
Kim Hyuk-kyu began his professional career as Deft at the age of 16 in 2013. He played his first Worlds in 2014 with the team Samsung Blue
. He was already considered an extremely good player, causing incredible damage. (via. Leaguepedia)
In 2014, Deft and his team were considered the second-best team in the tournament. Unfortunately, they lost in the semifinals against the even better Samsung White. The following years were not looking good either. He lost in the Worlds 5 more times, even though he was regarded as one of the best players.
Consequently, he had the reputation of being a great player who just couldn’t manage to win the biggest title. But that changed in 2022. He played in the team DRX, whose Worlds roster consisted of players who had been discarded. They were not seen as favorites, and DRX first had to qualify as the last Korean team for the Main Stage.
And they succeeded and won decisively against the other teams. In the finals, they had to face the cult team T1, and in a close 3 to 2, DRX managed to win the match and thus became world champions in 2022. And Deft finally achieved his dream after 10 years.

The video not only summarizes his career, his defeats, and the incredible victory against T1 and Faker, but it also showcases his teams and his former teammates with whom he shared victories and defeats.
