In League of Legends, quirky new roles for well-known champions sometimes crystallize over the course of patches. A typical top lane champion is currently being played in the support position and doing quite well.
Camille is essentially the born top lane champion. She has a strong passive, good mobility, and in one-on-one encounters, she is a true monster. In later team fights, she can initiate fights with her ultimate and take out the DPS champions on the enemy team.
Currently, however, Camille is also enjoying great success as a supporter, especially in higher ranks. When looking at all ranks on U.GG, she has a win rate of 51.65%. That’s solid, but not particularly spectacular. However, as you climb higher, her win rate increases. (As of: February 20, 2024)
- Emerald and above: 51.8%
- Diamond and above: 52.11%
- Master and above: 52.85%
- Challenger: 56.16%
From Emerald onward, she is among the top 5 supporters based on win rate. From Diamond 2 onwards, she is even ranked 2nd in the role, behind Maokai. Another champion is currently really strong on 3 lanes.
Strong against supporters with low health
The builds for top lane Camille and support Camille differ. In the top lane, you usually take the rune Grasp of the Undying, while as a support, you typically take Hail of Blades. With Hail of Blades and her passive ability, Camille can trade wonderfully, meaning she can go in briefly, deal a lot of damage to the opponent, and then escape with her E.
The items also differ somewhat. In the top lane, you usually take Trinity Force and complement it with boots, the Ravenous Hydra, and Sterak’s Gage. As a supporter, you take a less aggressive approach in the build and go for the support item, Sundered Sky, boots, Sterak’s Gage, and then the Titanic Hydra.
If you want to play Camille as a supporter, you should be careful when the opponent has a tank supporter. Camille is quite weak against these, and U.GG primarily lists tanks like Taric, Braum, Maokai, Rell, or Alistar as counters. If you see a Camille as a supporter, these champions are the perfect choice for you.
However, if the opponent has picked supporters with low health, then Camille might be a good choice for you, as with her ultimate, E, and quick damage potential, Camille is the perfect champion to dominate the bot lane with an aggressive ADC.
However, you should be cautious with Camille. If you engage with E and can’t manage the trade, you can easily be attacked and punished.
If you want to play Camille as a support, you should adjust the perfect timing. You should also be good at dodging because AP supporters like Lux or Xerath can easily kill you from a distance. In the next patch, Camille will not be nerfed, unlike a rune that weakens 2 unpopular champions, which the community is celebrating.
