To make Twisted Fate stronger in League of Legends, Riot adjusted his scalings and abilities for 2 patches. Apparently, this was too successful, as he is present in 3 lanes and will soon be nerfed.
Twisted Fate is a true classic in LoL. He has been part of the champion pool since the release in 2009 and has changed very little aside from small mechanics. He hasn’t been present in the last few months, which is why Riot adjusted him in patch 14.2.
His passive is additionally triggered on critical hits, his Q ability deals more damage and received an AD-scaling, and his W and E were also adjusted for crit and AD. This was a very good buff, as he is currently one of the best champions across 3 lanes.
If you look at U.GG for his statistics for Emerald and above, he is doing very well. On the Midlane, he has a win rate of 51.91%, as ADC one of 52.79%, and as Toplaner one of 52.73%. What’s special is that he is played as an AD-Crit-Champion in both Toplane and as ADC. U.GG rates him on Mid and Bot with S+ and on Toplane with S.
He has range and makes a lot of gold
Why is Twisted Fate so good right now? The buffs for AD and the new focus on critical hits are the main focus. His passive ability ensures that when he kills a unit, he receives 1 to 6 gold. Since 14.2, he also receives extra gold on a crit hit. This eventually results in a solid income, especially since his W can now also deal crit hits.
However, the real star now is his E. The ability gives him bonus attack speed, scales now to 75% AD, and deals more damage to towers. With an AD build, this results in good damage and helps him play like an ADC due to the attack speed.
His range should not be underestimated either. If you build him with Rapid Firecannon
, then his W becomes a powerful tool. He can deal a solid stun with the yellow card from a long range to catch champions. This way he can also take down enemies trying to escape. In his lanes, most champions that are also popular have a lower range than he does, making his laning phase enjoyable.
Although his ultimate hasn’t been changed, this ability should not be forgotten, as it gives Twisted Fate and his teammates immense control over the map, which has changed significantly this season. His ultimate’s teleport also gives him great ganking and roaming potential.
Riot is soon nerfing Twisted Fate – at least one build
If you want to succeed with Twisted Fate, you should hurry, as nerfs are coming for him on March 6th. As Spideraxe reports on x.com, the following nerfs will arrive:
- His attack speed growth decreases from 3% to 2.5%
- The AP scaling of his blue card (W ability) decreases from 115% to 100%
- The AP scaling of his E decreases from 50% to 40%
Only AP is being nerfed here, so he should still be strong as an AD champion; however, focusing on the champion might still be worthwhile. Although he will be less effective in utilizing Guinsoo’s AP values, that should barely be noticeable. The nerfs for Twisted Fate are coming significantly later than for this champion: LoL: Riot apologizes for too strong a buff of a midlaner
