In League of Legends, the South Korean professional Heo “Showmaker” Su has taken both top spots in South Korea’s SoloQ. He played practically the same champions in LoL: he favors the champs Ahri and Vex. But he even gets the best out of the problematic champ Ryze.
This is the situation:
- In recent weeks, the champions of their respective LoL regions fought against each other in the MSI tournament. Ultimately, Royal Never Give Up, the champion of the Chinese LPL, prevailed: only one team was qualified from each region.
- The professionals of the other teams had actually some free time. Their seasons ended a few weeks ago. However, it is common for LoL professionals to continue playing LoL in their free time; they keep fit in their country’s SoloQ.
- Showmaker is considered one of the best players in the world. He became World Champion in 2020 and Vice-World Champion in 2021. In 2022, things didn’t go well for DWG. The long-time supporter was missing, and there were now problems on the top lane: in the league, DWG finished in second place, and in the playoffs, they were knocked out in the semifinals against Gen G. So Showmaker has daytime leisure, and SoloQ must suffer.
He loves SoloQ too, but even Tyler1 is not as strong as Showmaker:
Showmaker doesn’t need a team to shine
How did Showmaker dominate SoloQ?
- Showmaker is ranked first with the account “MIDKING” with 1614 LP and a win rate of 63% (via op.gg)
- The South Korean is ranked second with the account “DK Showmaker” with 1576 LP and a win rate of 59% (via op.gg)
In total, he has already won 432 games with both accounts and “only” lost 274.
Which champions is he strongest with? His dominant champion with both accounts is the fox-like Ahri. With her, he has a win rate of 74% and 68%. He also plays her the most, having played 100 games with her. With his second favorite champion Vex, he has only played 52 times.
He is also strong with Zoe – where he has a win rate of 69%/79%.
Showmaker doesn’t experiment much in SoloQ. Occasionally, he has to play on the top lane or as support, but the overwhelming majority of his games are in the mid lane.
Showmaker doesn’t really go into SoloQ alone but is on the move with changing duo partners. In the last 20 games with the account DK Showmaker, for example, he played 4 times with his teammate Nuguri (the old and new top laner) and 4 times with deokdam (bot laner).
Riot recently toyed with the idea of decoupling the “Duo Mode” completely from SoloQ.

Are there also champions he is weak with? There are also some champs with which even Showmaker has a negative record. However, he plays them relatively rarely, so it’s hard to identify a pattern of whether this jack-of-all-trades has any champions that he doesn’t really excel with.
With Pyke, he played twice and lost both matches.
However, Showmaker still manages to get something out of the supposedly weakest champ in LoL: with Ryze, he won 14 matches and lost only 9. The man can really do everything.
A mage is currently the indisputable weakest champion in LoL – Why is Ryze so bad?
