The group stage of the European League of Legends league (LEC) is over, and only 4 teams have made it to the placement matches. During the group stage, 2 champions particularly stood out. However, Riot Games is already planning changes.
Which champions are involved? The two champions are Elise as a jungler and Ashe on the bot lane. Recently, Ashe was replaced in her original role as ADC and has mainly been played as support. Here, she dominates the entire lane with her abilities.
Meanwhile, Elise is active in the jungle and can often secure the first phase of the game.
The two champions were constantly present in the group stage of the LEC with a participation rate of 100%. Out of a total of 24 games played in the group stage, both characters were banned 21 times each. In the 3 remaining games, the champions showed why they should preferably be banned (via gol.gg).
The new season has started, and League of Legends kicks it off with a unique cinematic:
Ashe and Elise shine with their abilities
What makes the champions so strong? Both champions are characterized by executing their respective roles far too effectively.
- Ashe is very strong because she slows down opponents with each of her attacks.
- She can deal high damage with her W ability.
- With her ultimate ability, she can stun opponents for up to 3.5 seconds. This is the longest stun duration in the entire game (via reddit).
- Elise is very fast in the jungle with neutral monster camps, giving her more time to support her teammates.
- She offers good 1-vs-1 potential for fights in the jungle.
- Her ganks on the lanes are very effective when she hits her E ability. The skill has a very high range and allows teammates to attack opponents without risk.
What is Riot Games doing about it? Riot Games has addressed both roles in the upcoming patch. Adjustments will be made for both the jungle and supports. In the support role, items for all ranged supports will be adjusted to provide more options for other supports.
The jungle is to be completely adjusted, making it less attractive for teams to solely rely on ganks. Defeating neutral monsters should provide more rewards in the future, allowing junglers to scale into the late game.
Champions like Elise are still sought after for their fast jungle clear, but the change also allows scaling champions to shine in the jungle.
In addition, Elise herself will receive a nerf. Her little spiders will deal less damage, and the damage from her W ability will be reduced.
How much have you taken advantage of the strength of both champions for your games? Let us know in the comments.
