Syun “Calix” Hyun-bin is a young LoL player who is currently attracting a lot of attention. In a video clip, he showcases his entire class and declassifies the AD carry from T1, the team of superstar Faker. Meanwhile, the 16-year-old is ranked 1 in Korea’s SoloQ.
What can be seen in the clip? The pro player Gumayusi, 21 years old and with T1 since December 2018, is in a ranked match and is walking with the champion Aphelios towards his tower in the bot lane. This is currently being attacked by Calix on Ezreal.
Furthermore, Gumayusi’s supporter is just running onto the lane – so it’s a 1vs2 situation where the pro feels quite safe.
But Calix brilliantly resolves the situation. He hides in the bush, summons his ultimate there, and hits the pro player. In return, he elegantly dodges many skill shots. Mechanically, this is an Ezreal at the absolute highest level.
In the end, Gumayusi dies in the direct fight, and his supporter also loses his life after support for Calix comes running from the jungle.
Here you can watch the clip, which is already a few weeks old and was only posted on Reddit now:
Calix is already part of a team, dominating in multiple positions
How good is the player? Although Calix is still very young, he has been playing League of Legends at a very high level for several years. In 2021 – back when he was 13 – he was contracted by Nongshim Academy.
This team has already achieved several titles in the academy league and the second league:
- In May 2022, they took 1st place in the playoffs of the Academy Series.
- In November 2022, they came in 3rd-4th place in the playoffs of the Academy Series.
- This year, they secured 6th place in the second league playoffs in spring.
- In August, they even reached 2nd place in the summer league in the LCK CL.
There, he initially played as a midlaner and only as a substitute. On March 17 of this year, he played for the first time in the LCK CL, the second Korean league, and then changed his position from mid to bot lane in the summer. He is now listed again as a substitute for mid and has played a total of 12 matches this season.
Calix impresses both with his mechanics and his flexibility. In SoloQ in Korea, he is currently ranked 1 with 1,703 LP. He has a gap of exactly 70 LP to the player in 2nd place, and 120 to 3rd place (via OP.gg).
A large part of his matches are played in the mid lane (70%), but he has also been very active in the top lane (11.5%) and as a jungler (7.8%). However, in the shown clip, he was the AD carry and still managed to defeat one of the most experienced professionals in this position in Korea.
What do you think of the young player? Will we see him in a higher league in the future?
Even the well-known pro Faker started his career at about this age. At 17, he won the world championship for the first time. You can find out more about it here: The Life of Faker – That’s why he is a living legend.
