Logitech’s G502 Hero is one of the most popular gaming mice you can currently buy. The manufacturer has now introduced three successor models. MeinMMO presents the mice to you and explains what they offer.
The Logitech G502 Hero is one of the most popular gaming mice in the world and is still regularly among the bestsellers in gaming accessories. It is therefore not surprising that Logitech has introduced three new models of the G502 Hero.
According to Logitech, the G502 is the best-selling mouse in the world. A look at Amazon seems to confirm this, where the mouse regularly ranks among the bestsellers for gaming mice, both wired and wireless. At the current time, you can find the G502 Hero at positions 1 and 4 on Amazon (as of 30.08.2022).
What new mice has Logitech introduced now? The manufacturer has presented three new mice:
- The G502 X (wired)
- G502 X LIGHTSPEED (wireless)
- G502 X PLUS (wireless)
MeinMMO provides you with detailed information about the mice and explains exactly what is inside the devices.
Logitech introduces three new models of the G502 Hero – Here they are
What makes the mice special? Logitech relies on new switches that are built into the mice and sit under the buttons. Logitech calls these switches “Lightforce”: They are supposed to combine the advantages of an optical switch with the click feel of a mechanical switch.
Optical switches are intended to ensure higher durability and are now also used by other manufacturers like Razer or Roccat. Roccat also uses optical switches under the buttons in its Kone XP. You can find the test of the Kone XP here on MeinMMO:
Inside the mice continues to use the in-house “HERO 25K Gaming” sensor.
Update from 2.9.2022: The new mice no longer offer a weight system in the bottom. However, they are also generally lighter than their predecessors.
What does the G502 X offer? The G502 X features a newly designed, reversible, and detachable DPI switch that is intended to adapt to different hand sizes and grip styles. In addition, it includes the well-known endless scroll wheel for which the G502 Hero is known. The mouse can be charged via a USB-C cable.
What does the G502 X Lightspeed offer? The G502 X LIGHTSPEED uses an updated LIGHTSPEED wireless protocol. Essentially, it is similar to the previous G502 Hero Lightspeed, which also relies on the wireless protocol.
New is now that you can connect two Logitech devices with a single dongle. With the Device Pairing Tool in the Logitech G Hub, you can connect a mouse and, for example, a keyboard or headset to the computer. This way, you free up a USB port on your PC for other devices.
What does the G502 X Plus offer? The Plus model offers an extensive lighting function. According to Logitech, it features an 8-zone LED lighting system that you can turn on and off as desired.
Otherwise, it is identical in build to the G502 X.
What do the mice cost? The mice are available from August 2022 exclusively at LogitechG.com and later also at retailers. By the way, you can get all three mice in both black and white.
- The Logitech G502X costs 79.99 Euros
- The G502X LIGHTSPEED costs 149 Euros
- The G502 X PLUS is available for 169 Euros
The G502 Hero is one of the most popular mice because it is not limited to any genre
Why is the G502 Hero so successful? Logitech’s G502 Hero has the advantage of being a strong all-rounder: The mouse is not limited to any specific game or genre, but offers plenty of options with many buttons if you want to customize it to your play style.
Other manufacturers regularly try to replicate the success of the G502. SteelSeries introduced its Rival 5 as a competitor to the G502 Hero. And Razer regularly tries with its Basilisk, which is often referred to as a G502 Hero clone. The Basilisk V3 now also offers a continuous scroll wheel.
If you want to know how well the SteelSeries Rival 5 performs against Logitech’s G502, then read our review of both mice. We explain in detail what makes each mouse better:
