The live event in Fortnite around the Marvel villain Galactus was a huge success on the streaming platform Twitch. For a short time, there were even crashes – presumably due to the large turnout.
This happened yesterday: At around 10:00 PM German time, Fortnite held a massive live event. Galactus, the World-Eater, attacked the Fortnite world and there was a war between the players and the villain. The Marvel superheroes also showed up, leading to a great battle.
However, the Marvel event likely attracted not only active Fortnite players. Hundreds of thousands of viewers watched the spectacle on Twitch with their favorite streamers.
Millions of viewers and issues on Twitch
The event was this successful on Twitch: A ton of streamers showcased the live event and numerous viewers joined. We provide you with the numbers at a glance (via sullygnome):
- During the event, Fortnite had over 1.6 million live viewers on Twitch at times
- Streamer TheGrefg had the most people on his channel with nearly 250,000 simultaneous viewers – next came NICKMERCS, who had nearly 90,000 viewers
- In Germany, MontanaBlack also streamed the live event and had around 30,000 viewers at the same time
These were the problems on Twitch: By the end of the live event, there were some issues on Twitch. Viewers could not load certain streams or the descriptions of the streams were missing.
Twitch itself then spoke up on Twitter and confirmed issues. They said that the problems were known and that they were working on solutions. About an hour later, the disruptions were resolved.
Twitch itself did not confirm that the live event in Fortnite caused the issues. However, one can assume this, as within a few minutes, hundreds of thousands of fans flooded Twitch’s servers.
After the live event, it directly gets exciting in Fortnite. Season 5 is live, and there are the first trailers for it:
