ArenaNet is introducing a new NPC in Guild Wars 2 for the “Extra Life Game Day event”. There is a special story behind the girl, as she was inspired by a real person.
There will soon be a special NPC in Guild Wars 2, inspired by a real person, for a special event in collaboration with the “Children’s Miracle Network of Hospitals”.
What do we know about the NPC? A girl will be added as a new NPC in Guild Wars 2. Her name will be “April the Mesmer Wonderchild” and she is a magical duelist specializing in illusions. She will be added to the game as part of a major update during the “Extra Life Game Day event”.
It is already known who will voice April, namely the well-known voice actress Jennifer Hale (via Twitter).
Here you can watch the Extra Life 2022 video featuring the introduction of the new NPC:
Who is the person behind the NPC? The girl who serves as the inspiration for the new Guild Wars 2 NPC is named April Lynn. She is a “CMN Hospitals National Champion” and is one of the faces supporting fundraising efforts for children’s hospitals.
On the website, you can find her story: When April was just 15 months old, she suffered septic shock due to pneumonia. At the hospital, April’s life was saved, but her right leg had to be amputated.
However, April is not stopped by this. The now ten-year-old April “joyfully walks through the world with a prosthetic leg. She loves to sing, dance, and perform in local theater productions.” (via childrensmiraclenetworkhospitals.org).
What is Extra Life? “Extra Life” is the name of a program from the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Through 24-hour livestreams, donations are collected in collaborations with well-known people or gaming companies. For the 6th time in a row, there is also a collaboration with ArenaNet, the studio behind Guild Wars 2 (via guildwars2.com).
When will ArenaNet’s stream take place? On November 4, there will be a 24-hour streaming marathon from the gaming studio. The Extra Life Game Day event will run from 12:00 PM Pacific Time until 12:00 PM on November 5. Converted to German time, that corresponds to 9:00 PM each day.
