The episodic drama game Life is Strange will soon receive its own TV series.
Max Caulfield – from the Monitor to the TV?
Looking back at the past year and considering which stories from games have truly stayed in people’s minds, “Life is Strange” by Dontnod Entertainment is right at the top. The story surrounding Max Caulfield and the town of Arcadia Bay has captivated many players and caused quite a few tears in front of the screen. No wonder the game has won numerous awards – including the BAFTA for Best Story.
But the 5th episode of the game is not the end. As the publisher Square Enix has now announced, they have reached a deal with Legendary to produce a TV series based on Life is Strange. It is still unknown on which channels the series will ultimately be available.
The plot is still up in the air, but early indications suggest that it will again revolve around Max, Chloe, and the inhabitants of Arcadia Bay. Whether the exciting mechanic of “rewinding time” with subsequent new decisions can be successfully translated into a TV series remains to be seen.
The original developers of Life is Strange have not yet been brought on board – they have stated that besides the game “Vampyr”, they are also working on “currently unannounced projects”. This at least gives hope for a Life is Strange 2.
If you have never heard of Life is Strange, or if you have always had an excuse for why you haven’t played the game yet: Episode 1 of Life is Strange is currently available for free on all platforms. Here is the Steam page of Life is Strange.
