On December 14th, the closed beta test of the MMO version of Life is Feudal started. The servers reportedly ran longer than expected according to the developers.
A closed beta has many goals. These include finding bugs, testing the balancing, and seeing how the servers of the MMO hold up. When Life is Feudal entered the testing phase, the developers believed that at least one of the servers would crash at around 200 players. However, it even held up to 368 players.
The developers are amazed by this, as hardly any optimizations have been made yet. Overall, the beta is well received. The maximum number of concurrent players reached 800. Currently, up to 1,000 players are allowed in the test.
The developers described their studio in the past days as “a burning anthill” and remind players that this is the first time Life is Feudal is subjected to such a massive test.
Server maintenance and bug fixes
The team is currently working on stabilizing the game and improving server performance. There was also a major issue with resource distribution in the game world. Due to a bug, players were unable to find resources in dungeons in amounts greater than ten. This issue has been resolved together with some login difficulties.
The problem with horse carts
In addition, the developers are currently working on developing horse carts. These are meant to assist you in transporting goods. However, it’s still unclear how they will be integrated into the game. There are apparently issues with movement freedom, as it is difficult to accurately represent the turns when a horse pulls a rigid cart behind it. Placing a movable object on the cart and being able to transport it proves to be challenging as well.
Life is Feudal is a medieval MMORPG where you have to try to survive in the world and can even become the ruler of a kingdom.
