On the two new, legendary servers of The Lord of the Rings Online, a new world event brings fresh air into the leveling experience of Middle-earth. MeinMMO reveals what “The Veil of the Nine” is all about.
What kind of new event is this? “The Veil of the Nine” is the special challenge awaiting you on the two legendary servers Angmar and Mordor of The Lord of the Rings Online, which went live at the beginning of August.
- As part of the event, the nine Nazgûl – Ringwraiths under the command of Sauron – scour all of Middle-earth for the Ring-bearer. The Nazgûl possess great power and can only be defeated by a group of several heroes.
- Additionally, lesser minions roam the land. They are relatively weak. Once your character reaches level 10, they should be able to handle the nameless spirits.
- Mean: As long as the event is active, the lesser spirits and even the Nine can attack you from behind while you are engaged in a fight.
- As soon as a Nazgûl appears, a corresponding warning lands in the world chat. Now you should team up with other characters to have a realistic chance of defeating the Ringwraith before it catches its prey alone or flees after a while.
- If the Nazgûl faces too great a power, it can banish characters to the shadows, only to have them reappear somewhere else.

What rewards await?
- Defeated Nazgûl drop a Morgul coin and reward with a title. From nameless spirits, you receive shadow scraps.
- Morgul coins and shadow scraps can be exchanged at the stressed scholar Amelia from Esteldin for tools, cosmetic items, shadow companions, and title frames.
- With some luck, you can find one of the twelve lesser Rings of Power throughout Middle-earth. However, they are fickle and change their location every few days.
Initially, the respawn times of the spirits were set so short that players were overwhelmed by the constantly appearing enemies. In the official forum, the developers have now announced that they want to adjust the frequency based on the feedback (via forums.lotro.com).

What is special about the legendary servers? The legendary servers allow you to experience the chapters of the Middle-earth adventure in chronological order for the first time or once again, while challenges like “The Veil of the Nine” bring fresh air into the leveling experience.
Gradually, the developers are expanding the available content with new levels and regions. Currently, level 50 is the maximum level on Angmar and Mordor. Once the maximum level of the live servers is reached on Angmar, the developers want to offer the transition to non-legendary servers of your choice. Mordor is supposed to remain live as long as it is financially viable.
By the way, Mordor and Angmar are the first 64-bit servers of The Lord of the Rings Online, and for the first time, there is a European legendary server with Mordor.
