The extraction shooter Marathon is just about to release. The so-called Server Slam, a final public test run, is still running until March 2, 2026. Now, the largest Twitch streamer in ARC Raiders defends the new shooter.
Which streamer is it about? TheBurntPeanut has been streaming ARC Raiders on Twitch since November 2025. With the unique feature that he represents a peanut, he has become the biggest streamer of the popular shooter. His peak viewer count is at 93,000 and is well ahead of the rest (streamcharts.com).
Now the streamer has defended the new extraction shooter Marathon from Bungie after his community criticized the game.
What does TheBurntPeanut say? An X user shared a clip from TheBurntPeanut’s stream. There, the streamer says: “If we keep bashing new games, by the time you’re 90, you’ll only have Call of Duty 56 and Halo 72… and everyone’s like: ‘It’s the same game every year.’ THEN DON’T CRITICIZE IT BADLY ON THE FIRST DAY WHEN THEY TRY SOMETHING NEW.”
At the end of the clip, he raises it to Call of Duty 96 and says: “Let them do it, or you’ll get CoD 96.”
In another clip on X, the streamer mentions that his community criticized ARC Raiders just as much as Marathon.
The mood about Marathon is divided
What do players think of the new shooter? On Reddit, a post has appeared where players say, the Server Slam is the most miserable open beta. However, this should not be due to the game but to the community.
Other users commented that they had been in various streamers’ chats where Marathon was being heavily criticized. However, there are also players who can’t wait to continue playing Marathon and are annoyed by the streamer’s chats as well.
The Reddit user Gogobananatho writes: “I’m currently at work and dying to play. Therefore, I have a stream running on my second monitor, but the chat is so annoying that you can hardly look at it.”
MeinMMO editor Dariusz thinks that Marathon is the perfect game for everyone who loves PvP in Arc Raiders, but receives insults and hateful comments from the PvE enthusiasts. What do you think of Marathon and will you dive in on March 5?
Currently, some players are complaining about the user interface of the extraction shooter. It is criticized that everything is hidden in 5-6 menus. With such criticism, the developers can make Marathon a better game, but not with hate: Marathon wants to be the new competitor to ARC Raiders, but players complain: ‘Why is everything hidden 5 – 6 menus deep?’
