LEGO has announced a new set that should particularly excite fans of The Legend of Zelda. First images show that the most iconic part of the series serves as the model. However, some people who know LEGO’s pricing policy are apprehensive.
What kind of set is it? On the official page of Nintendo of America on x.com, the company shared a 12-second clip announcing a new LEGO set.
However, it is not about Pokémon, another franchise that will soon receive a set. In this case, fans can expect a new set for The Legend of Zelda. The popular hero Link can be seen in green attire with sword and shield. Next to him, the fairy Navi hovers in the air. In the background, Princess Zelda is discernible, slightly out of focus, while a dark shadow falls over both – presumably Ganondorf, the main antagonist of the series.
The scenario suspiciously resembles the finale of Ocarina of Time, where Link faces the mentioned villain and rescues Zelda. When exactly the set will be released is still unclear, just like the price, which has already sparked discussions.
A new set from LEGO could be expensive
What does the discussion look like? In recent years, LEGO has also earned a reputation for some sets being quite costly. A perfect example of this is another set from The Legend of Zelda universe.
The “Deku Tree” costs a whopping €299.99 on the official LEGO website and consists of 2,500 pieces. A high price for a single set. By comparison: The Switch 1 costs new (around Mediamarkt) €288. So anyone wanting to own this LEGO set will have to reach deep into their pockets.
For good reason, some users and LEGO fans on x.com fear that the upcoming Ocarina of Time set could also be similarly priced:
- “Zelda fans know exactly what challenge they face with this set,” writes Revived, referring to the feared high price.
- “Price: An arm and a leg,” predicts The Odd Tank Poster.
- “Honestly, I find the prices for LEGO sets from the Nintendo series much higher than with other licenses. I would prefer smaller, cheaper sets,” expresses Chriag S kotian.
- “Please don’t be so expensive, please don’t be so expensive, please don’t be so expensive, please don’t be so expensive, please don’t be so expensive …”, repeats the user ChrisO their mantra. Will it help?
Even though there is some skepticism in the comments, there are also positive voices looking forward to the set and preparing with “Hey, Listen” for the little and, to put it mildly, annoying fairy Navi.
Because apart from the feared price, Ocarina of Time is the perfect choice for a Zelda set. The game, which first appeared in 1998 for the N64 and received a remake for the 3DS in 2011, is a classic of the series.
It was the first installment to feature a three-dimensional environment. It focused on an action-packed combat system with an innovative lock-on feature and continues to impress today with strong dungeons, an atmospherically told story, and beautiful music.
For fans of the series, the new set, which represents the finale of the game, is undoubtedly a real highlight. In the end, the price will likely determine whether it finds its way into collectors’ shelves. What do you think about it? How much would you be willing to pay for the set?
