LEGO releases the largest set of all time – The new Eiffel Tower is as tall as an 11-year-old child, costs 630 €

On November 25, 2022, LEGO will release a new set, the largest of all time. The Eiffel Tower consists of 10,001 pieces, costs nearly €630, and will be 149 centimeters tall. With this, LEGO surpasses all previous sets.

What is special about the set? The special feature of the new Eiffel Tower is certainly the extreme height of the finished object. At 1.49 meters, the LEGO Eiffel Tower is as tall as a child aged 11. According to a statistical survey by a research institute for children’s nutrition in Dortmund, boys at age 11 are on average 1.47 meters tall, and girls 1.48 meters (via blikk.it).

The tower is also 14 centimeters taller than the actor Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion in Game of Thrones, but some staff members of the MeinMMO editorial team found that comparison for a headline too harsh, as I just learned.

By the way, LEGO had previously released a set in 2007 from which an Eiffel Tower emerged, but it only cost 200 euros and measured just 108 cm (via stonewars.de).

What was the last big highlight at LEGO? In 2021, LEGO released the Titanic. It was 1.35 cm long and consisted of 9,000 pieces. At €680, it was in a similar price range as the Eiffel Tower now.

LEGO itself sees both, Titanic and Eiffel Tower, but only in 2nd and 3rd place on their list of the largest sets, because at LEGO, one does not count in centimeters, but in blocks used.

With 11,695 bricks used, the “LEGO Art World Map” is still a bit larger. LEGO recommends hanging the map on the wall.

Also very nice: The model is presented by a young man with a beard, scarf, and man bun, who is apparently thrilled to finally fulfill his dream: a personal Eiffel Tower in the living room.

The LEGO Eiffel Tower is set to appear on November 25 and will cost €629.99. However, there have been complaints about these collector’s methods before: allegedly, they are often bought up by scalpers and then resold at a markup.
