In LEGO Fortnite there is much to discover, and some of it requires quite a bit of running. We will show you how to build a car – including steering functionality.
How do I build a car? You can build a car in LEGO Fortnite using a few individual parts. First, you should find a large open space so that you have enough room to try things out. You will need the following components and materials:
- 1 dynamic foundation
- 1 softwood
- 4 small wheels
- 1 softwood each, 1 softwood stick
- 1 small nozzle
- 1 wood stick, 1 explosive powder, 1 torch
- 1 activation lever
- 1 wood, 1 explosive powder
You place the foundation on a large open area and attach the wheels around it. You position the nozzle so that it points in a possible direction of travel. You place the activation lever over the nozzle on the foundation so that you can easily reach it and activate the nozzle while standing on the foundation.

Can I steer the car? To be able to steer the car, it needs a small upgrade. Simply place an additional large wheel on the foundation, directly opposite the activation lever.
Then look for a wooden box, which you often find at small buildings in the world. Alternatively, you can craft it from 2 copper ingots and 6 softwoods. When you touch the large wheel with the box in your hands while standing on the moving foundation, the wheel will turn, and the car will steer.
Is it easy to control? It is a bit cumbersome to activate the nozzle when the wooden box is on the foundation. Additionally, it tends to tip over quickly. In order for steering to even work, you have to first place the box on the foundation, then activate the switch, and afterwards pick the box up again to steer.
By the way, this also works with an explosive barrel (made from 6 planks and 3 explosive powders) as an alternative to the wooden box, but you have to be careful not to throw it and blow something up.
Driving is still fun – and even without the steering upgrade, you can move around with the car. Going downhill, you don’t even need to activate the nozzle, and you still get from A to B faster than walking.
