Originally, the sandbox MMORPG Legends of Aria, which is considered a spiritual successor to Ultima Online, was supposed to launch on January 18. But that won’t happen.
The developers have postponed the Steam launch of the early access version to spring, as there is still much to be done on the MMORPG.
When will LoA be available on Steam? The MMORPG was originally scheduled to enter early access via Steam on December 4, 2018. However, this date was postponed to January 18, 2019. Now, plans have changed again. As of now, you can play Legends of Aria in early access starting March 21.
Why was there a delay? The developers provide several reasons on the official website:
- Further work is needed on the stability of the game
- The performance is not yet good enough to present LoA to a wider audience
- The developers would like to introduce the next major content update in early access to provide more content for players
A big update is coming
What does the content update bring? The update is expected to include several major changes to the game and integrate more content.
- “Frozen Tundra” introduces a new biome where you can explore new icy areas and dungeons
- New professions will be added
- Major balancing changes are planned
- The risks and rewards of playing an Outcast in PvP will be adjusted
- The dungeons in the game will be revamped to be more beautiful, larger, and offer more rewards
How are the players reacting? The reactions are currently somewhat mixed. Some players express understanding as they want a good gaming experience. Others, however, are disappointed, especially since this is already the second postponement of the early access launch.
According to those who have been able to test Legends of Aria so far, the delay makes sense. There are currently some issues concerning performance, and the content leaves something to be desired.
So, it’s time for Legends-of-Aria fans and everyone hoping for a modern Ultima Online to be patient and wait for March 21.
