How to leave the guild in WoW? You can do this with a simple command in the chat, which we will show you here.
What is it about? In World of Warcraft, you can join guilds to level up together, chat, or raid. If you decide to leave the guild at some point, you just need to implement it in the game.
The command to leave a guild:
- Open your chat with “Enter” and type “/gquit” and confirm with “Enter”
- Warning: You will not be asked to confirm – Once you confirm your message with Enter, you will be directly out of the guild
- Tip: Avoid embarrassment and type /gquit without quotes in the chat. Otherwise, the message will end up in the chat without effect
Leaving the guild without a chat command: The second way to leave a guild in WoW is via the guild menu.
- Open the guild menu with “J” and right-click your name in the player list
- Click on “Leave Guild”
- You will now be asked if you are sure you want to leave the guild
- If you confirm that, you will leave the guild
Both versions work in WoW and in WoW Classic.
Leaving the guild as a guild master – Here’s how
What you need to know: If you are the guild master and have members, you can appoint another player as master before leaving your guild.
But what if you are the guild master of a guild with no members?
Here is the command for guild masters:
- With “/gdisband” you can completely dissolve a guild without members

In the current WoW (not Classic), you will find a guild browser on “J” if you don’t have one yet. There you can specify what role you play and introduce yourself briefly in a comment. The guild masters can then view your application and decide if you fit the guild. You can also set in the search filter what kind of players you are looking for.
