Actually, the developers of League of Legends were against a training mode – However, the will of the fans was stronger.
About a year ago, the LoL developers announced in a format called “Riot Pls” what issues there would be in the future. They clearly spoke out against a training mode. Fans of the MOBA did not like that at all and expressed their disappointment through posts and comments on Facebook, Reddit, and other social networks. In 2017, League of Legends is said to provide more tools for players who want to improve their skills.
“No training hall, more like a punching bag”
As the developers announced, the training mode is meant to be simple and straightforward. It will not be a fully equipped training hall, but rather a punching bag. This training mode is aimed at all players from Bronze to Challenger rank and offers the opportunity to improve their mechanics and movements on the map. So far, this mode is planned for single players and not for teams. Some functions and features that the training mode in LoL offers are:
- Unlimited Gold
- Manually reset cooldowns
- Lock your own level
- Prevent minion spawning
The list of features is still a work in progress. Work on the prototype for the training mode has already begun.
So soon, there will be another change in the game that goes back to the wishes of the fans. In the past days, it was already announced that SoloQ is coming back to the game and a replay system is in the works that players have been wishing for so long. Even though these changes come rather “late”, the new features are likely a step in the right direction. Comparing League of Legends with other e-sport titles, a replay system should actually be standard.
What do you think of the planned changes and what feature would you wish for?
