Everyone is eagerly waiting to see what the future holds for Arma. Because Arma 3 shaped the modern shooter genre with a mod for “Battle Royale”. The team announced a livestream for May 17, but now a big leak has emerged. Apparently, Arma Reforger is the new title that is supposed to bridge to Arma 4.
What is this leak? A leak about Arma appeared on reddit that apparently reveals a marketing plan. It is about Arma Reforger – many had hoped for Arma 4, but Reforger is apparently some sort of intermediate step.

What is Arma Reforger?
This is better: According to the leak, the military game will run on Bohemia Interactive’s new “Enfusion Technology” engine. This gives hope to the franchise community, as the new engine could finally bring a better, modern graphics that players are wishing for.
It is supposed to give players a first look at Arma 4 while providing tactical depth, but at the same time remain accessible to a wider audience, including console players. Mod support is, of course, included.
What is the setting? According to the leak, Arma Reforger takes place in an alternate 1989. As players, you are supposed to advance your military career and either join the US forces or the Soviet forces. The fight is for the strategically important Island of Everon.

This is also exciting: The leaked material emphasizes the ongoing collaboration between Bohemia and the International Committee of the Red Cross. The series is supposed to have a “humanitarian, anti-war focus”. Additionally, there is the goal of continuing to “expose, disseminate, and promote humanitarian international law in the game.”
When will there be more information? On May 17 at 7:00 PM German time, there will be a stream on Twitch that will deal with the future of Arma. It is to be expected that the game will be officially presented there.

Why is Arma 3 so important? The military shooter Arma 3 was released in 2013 on Steam and has consistently averaged between 10,000 and 20,000 players on the PC platform since February 2014.
The shooter genre was shaped by Arma 3 mainly through a mod for “Battle Royale”. It is no coincidence that it happens in Arma 3, as the game is known to be very modder-friendly: Brendan Greene, known as “PlayerUnknown”, developed his “Battle Royale” mod for the game in 2014.
This mod ultimately became formative for the shooter genre over the last 7 years, as games like:

- PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds – Greene’s own game
- Fortnite: Battle Royale – the game was accused of copying PUBG
