The rumors surrounding the successor to Destiny 2 are not stopping. According to a leak, the new Destiny installment is set to release for the new console generation – as one of the first titles for PlayStation 5 and the new Xbox.
This is what the leak is about: Recently, two major leaks about Destiny 3 have surfaced. One originally comes from an anonymous source on the platform 4chan, the other leak from the well-known Redditor AnonTheNine.
The leak on Reddit reveals not only alleged details about the story, enemies, locations, and the general direction of the game, but also potential information about the release date and possible platforms.

Release date of Destiny 3 in 2020?
This is what the leak says about the release date: When a fan asked for a concrete release date for Destiny 3, it was said: “I didn’t mention it in this post because it’s not 100% set in stone yet. But I can basically guarantee that it will be released in 2020 as a multi-platform launch title for the PS5 and Xbox Scarlett (the codename for the next Xbox).”
What could be a possible timeframe? Keep in mind that these are rumors that have not been officially commented on or confirmed. Although Anon has been right with all his leaks so far, that does not guarantee that this will be the case with these statements.
However, if these rumors as well as the previous predictions for the release of the next console generation from Microsoft and Sony prove true, a release of Destiny 3 in November 2020 on the new platforms would be conceivable.

How plausible is this timeframe? Bungie traditionally prefers September as the release month for DLCs or new installments. Whether they would deviate from the previous release pattern for Destiny 3 is unclear – assuming the rumors actually turn out to be true.
However, it is conceivable that Destiny 3 already releases in September 2020 – specifically for the current hardware generation, namely the PS4 and Xbox One. Versions for the PS5 and the new Xbox might be released in November 2020 as soon as the new platforms become available. After all, the PC version of Destiny 2 was also released with a delay of more than a month.
What other platforms are there? However, it remains unclear whether there will be a version for the current console generation and the PC – even though that is very likely.

After all, Destiny 1 was released for the then-new PS4 and Xbox One, as well as for the older consoles Xbox 360 and PS3. However, apart from the mention of the PS5 and Xbox Scarlett, no platforms are explicitly mentioned in the latest rumors.
Furthermore, it will be interesting to see whether in such a case, the version for the new platforms has to make technical and gameplay compromises to ensure that Destiny 3 works on the older consoles, namely the PS4 and Xbox One.
