A new leak from the Polish Xbox store suggests that the shooter Battlefield 2042 might soon be coming to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
This leak is about: The Polish site xgp.pl published a screenshot from the Xbox game store showing the product page for the game Battlefield 2042. Also visible in the image is the small “Game Pass” icon.
This indicates that the shooter should be available in the popular Xbox subscription service. That is currently not the case, which means it could either be a mistake or a leak. However, the trend currently leans more towards a leak.
Similar slip-ups occurred with the games Mass Effect: Legendary Edition and Resident Evil Village, both of which actually ended up in Xbox Game Pass.

The assumption is that Battlefield 2042 will be available through EA Play in the Ultimate version of Game Pass.
When is this supposed to happen? Allegedly, Battlefield 2042 will already be playable on May 5th, next week, via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
As with all leaks, the rule also applies here: take it with caution. There is no official confirmation that Battlefield 2042 will actually be available in the Pass.
Poor release and poor communication ruined the game
These were the issues with Battlefield 2042: Since its release in November 21, the shooter has struggled with massive performance issues and declining player numbers. The launch was very bumpy with connection problems and error messages.
Insider leaks about internal management communication at EA regarding the game painted a bizarre picture of relativizing their own blame. News about problems and player complaints did not stop after the release:
- EA said Battlefield 2042 failed due to elitist PC players and the early release of Halo Infinite
- Cheat providers have given up on the game because it runs so poorly.
- In South Africa, one person was able to “take the entire region’s player base as a hostage”.
- Hundreds of thousands of players petitioned for a refund.
It went so far that the predecessor, Battlefield V, according to the statistics site Steamcharts has seven times the player count of 2042.
- Battlefield V has 20,330 players in the last 24 hours
- Battlefield 2042 can only show 3,203 active players.
EA itself openly admitted during an earnings call in February 2022 that Battlefield 2042 had failed and did not meet expectations. There were even rumors that the shooter might go free-to-play.
Now, however, it seems EA has found another “solution.” If the Polish leak is true and the game ends up in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, it would open the game up to a large group of players.
In the meantime, many remaining players are not pleased:
