What’s the deal with the skins? In Call of Duty, you can buy many different skins for your operators. However, for several years now, these skins have been becoming increasingly absurd, deviating from the setting of a shooter in at least a somewhat realistic environment.
Alongside various celebrities like Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj, and Neymar, there have also been different collaborations with fantasy figures, such as the characters from the series The Boys or, more recently, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. And then there are the absurd animal masks.
More restraint with skins?
What does the leaker say? The well-known “Call of Duty” leaker “TheGhostofHope” shared some information in a post on X.com about Activision and Raven Software’s latest impressions and thoughts on Call of Duty: Warzone.
According to the leaker, they have discussed potentially showing more restraint in the future regarding skins and bundles. Activision is hearing the criticism from some players that Warzone is increasingly looking silly – even if crossovers, such as with the Ninja Turtles, are a “money-making machine.”
Overall, Activision and Raven Software are very satisfied with the return of Verdansk in Season 3 of Warzone. The number of returning players has exceeded expectations.
Crossover skins in Call of Duty, however, are not only criticized because they sometimes do not fit the setting and make the game look silly. Some outfits are harder to see due to their design, giving buyers of the skin an advantage.
