In Destiny 2 the spooky season is coming soon along with the “Festival of the Lost.” Players can earn Halloween armor again in 2022. A leak has also revealed that there will be fun new masks and a super cool sniper rifle. MeinMMO shows what it can do and what loot you can expect for Halloween.
What can players expect at the “Festival of the Lost”? As every year, Bungie will celebrate its traditional Halloween event next month, likely on October 18th.
For this, the Guardians were asked back in March 2022 to decide which new Halloween armors Bungie should implement. However, more information about the upcoming spooky event has not been available until now.
Therefore, some data miners have once again diligently tried to find out more concrete details about the upcoming “Festival of the Lost” from the Destiny API. Obviously with success. They found hints of new, themed cosmetics, fun masks, and a new Halloween event weapon with a unique origin trait.
We show you what the players have discovered. But please keep in mind, these are still unconfirmed details about the Halloween event that are not officially from Bungie. So enjoy them with caution.
What is the Festival of the Lost?
This event has its roots in Destiny 1 and is held in honor of fallen Guardians. Basically, it is the Destiny version of Halloween.
All players come together in the Tower of the Last City to commemorate their loved ones, friends, and comrades who fell in battle. Here, the Guardians should reflect and remember what they stand for and fight for during the event.
Bungie transforms the Tower into a festive place with decorations and lights during the event. Through the event map, the Guardians then receive event-specific tasks, activities, and themed rewards.
Which weapon was leaked for the Halloween event? Cunning Guardians have dug through the data from light.gg and discovered a new Arc sniper rifle. This is supposed to be the new event weapon for the “Festival of the Lost.”
A schematic 3D model of the weapon, its origin trait, and perks were seen. It seems to be a legendary sniper with an aggressive frame that also offers insane stats. So it could be worth hunting this new “carrot” in October.
As the player Dekelsb enthusiastically writes on YouTube: “I am so excited about this sniper rifle. It looks super cool and has some insane PvP stats.”
He might be right, if you look closely at the weapon’s details.
New origin trait sounds strong: According to the data miners, the new event weapon has the origin trait “Search Party.”
This trait states that the weapon gains faster aiming speed and higher movement speed when no allies are nearby.
These perks can also drop with the weapon:
- Barrel: Arrowhead Brake, Corkscrew Rifling, Fluted Barrel, Extended Barrel, Hammer-Forged Rifling, Rifle Barrel, Polygonal Rifling, and Smallbore.
- Magazine: Improved Projectiles, Extended Magazine, Tactical Magazine, Steady Rounds, Appended Magazine, Alloy Magazine, and Flared Magwell.
- First Perk Slot: Perpetual Motion, Triple Tap, Snapshot Sights, No Distractions, Clown Cartridge, and Auto-Loading Holster.
- Second Perk Slot: Vorpal Weapon, First Shot, Through-the-Scope Rounds, Moving Target, Practical Frame, and Skillful Transfer.
What are origin traits on weapons?
With the expansion “The Witch Queen,” Destiny 2 introduced so-called origin traits on its weapons. These are additional and unique advantages, which show the origin of a weapon and provide players with significant benefits.
- For example, all weapons from the raid “The Deep Stone Crypt” possess the specific origin perk “Soul Drinker.”
- During the Solstice 2022, weapons had the unique origin perk “Dream Job,” which allowed the magazine to overflow.
Furthermore, it seems that the weapon is not just pure recycling. While there are minor similarities to the well-known sniper “The Perilous Venture,” the appearance of the new event weapon looks visually much better and significantly reworked.
In addition to the new sniper rifle, players can probably look forward to new cosmetics as well. Here, too, early information has been gleaned from Bungie’s API.
- Players can expect a recycled Savathun mask with a trash can on its head and three green button eyes.
- There will be a blue and glittery star horse mask, referencing Xur’s impossible horse buddy from the “30 Years of Bungie” DLC.

- The Fynch mask, a paper design of the new Throne World vendor.
- In 2022, players can become the weapon with the most bugs in the game by putting on the new Telesto mask. After the Banshee meme, it is another funny tribute from Bungie for a great exotic “with a mind of its own.”

What do the new “Festival of the Lost” armors look like? Of course, there will also be new armors again. For this, Bungie has once again put the players in front of the choice of which armors they would like: monster or mecha.
The voting period was from April 7th to 13th. After that, it was clear that with nearly 52 % to 48 % of the votes, the Guardians will receive new Mecha ornaments during the “Festival of the Lost”. The result of the vote was published on Twitter.
Is anything known about the event activity? Unfortunately not. Last year, however, Bungie sent the Guardians into Haunted instead of Lost Sectors. These were spooky decorated and the goal was to hunt headless beings that appeared in the form of Cabal Knights with pumpkin heads. That and a unique storybook provided a bit of pleasant, fresh air to the event in 2021.
Whether players should explore sectors again this year, if the Haunted Forest returns, or if Bungie has planned a new, spooky activity remains to be seen shortly before the event starts on October 18th.
How do you get these new items and armors? The masks and cosmetics can likely be picked up again from Space-Omi Eva Levante. She is still fit and not ready to retire. So she will probably continue to be your quest giver for upcoming Destiny events.
By completing the various challenges on the new event map, as was the case in the summer event “Solstice,” more event cosmetics will likely be available.
The armor ornament sets will, however, not be earnable as always but will come directly to the Eververse. There, you can either earn them with Bright Dust or buy them with Silver. In 2021, prices for each set were either 6,000 Bright Dust or correspondingly 1,500 Silver. It is quite possible that Bungie will maintain this in 2022.
Who can participate in the Halloween event 2022? In Destiny 2 events, it does not matter whether you have purchased a DLC or a season or not. All players can participate in the event using the free-to-play version Destiny 2: New Light. So you are invited to join in and turn your Guardian into a Mecha or get the event sniper.
