In mid-August, a user on Reddit correctly predicted that Red Dead Redemption 2 would be released for PC and Google Stadia. The release date was also accurate, and that the blockbuster would not initially be available on Steam. An incredible leak, but it was way ahead of its time.
What kind of leak was that? A Reddit user, whose account has since been deleted, predicted on August 11 that Red Dead Redemption 2 would be revealed for PC and Stadia in August. He forecasted August 19 as the announcement date for both versions.
This was his logic:
- Since Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to Google Stadia, it makes sense that it would also be released for PC. Rockstar is definitely making a high-resolution version.
- As the release date for Stadia, the player mentioned November for launch – for PC either October or also November alongside the release on Google Stadia.
He then explained: The joke would be that Red Dead Redemption 2 is not coming to Steam, but exclusively for the Epic Games Store and the R* Social Club.
The user cited a Rockstar insider as the source and probably his own conclusions.

Leak bursts with a loud pop
So it was: The leak fizzled out when nothing was announced at the Stadia event on August 19.
They didn’t mention Rockstar at all.
It looked as if everything had dissolved into thin air. And it was the umpteenth “leak” about Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC that was totally unfounded.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming for PC and Stadia
So it is now: Rockstar announced last week, on October 4, how it will really be:
- Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on November 5 for PC.
- The game will be available through the Epic Game Store, Greenman Gaming, Humble Store, GameStop, and elsewhere – just not through Steam. It will arrive there in December.
- It will be a launch title for Google Stadia in November 2019. There is no specific date yet.
The Reddit user was almost right about everything, at least about the core facts – just the announcement date was 6 weeks too early. Furthermore, Steam is not completely out, but at least in a way that it will hurt them.
