In League of Legends there are currently teasers for a new “dual” champion. However, it shouldn’t really be split.
Yesterday we introduced you to the “tale” of the lamb and lion. There is pretty much consensus: This is likely a teaser for a new champ in League of Legends. Even on the test server, a little joke was allowed, showing one of two masks above the player’s corpse every time a champion died. Much indicates that the new champ, besides having an affinity for death, consists of “two halves”.
The new concept is very similar to a fan proposal for a dual Two-in-One champion “Dha and Ma”, a kind of Ying-Yang concept (we used the concept art as a cover image). Fans find many parallels from the fan art back then to what we now know about the new champ.
However, the new champ will likely not be a “multi” champion as in the fan proposal or like the Lost Vikings in “Heroes of the Storm”. There, players can control all three champions simultaneously like in an RTS.
This concept has recently been virtually ruled out by a champ designer for LoL, as League of Legends is designed so that you always select your own champion. Changing that would require a lot of work on the interface and the input. And such a champion would hardly have interesting abilities, except for splitting. While one should never say “never,” the designer considers it a bad idea and virtually ruled it out.
Even if the new champ looks like a “2-in-1” champion, Riot will have thought of something different.
