Negative behavior, account sharing and boosting are reasons why 16 pros have now been banned from LoL .
In online games like League of Legends, there are rules that players must adhere to. Professionals are not exempt from these rules, as 16 players from the Oceanic Challenger Series have now experienced. The bans range from two weeks to the exclusion from the entire 2017 season. The affected teams now have to restructure.
40% of pro players banned
Currently, there are eight teams in the Oceanic Challenger Series. With 16 bans, almost half of the players have been punished for various rule violations.
The Australian team SIN Academy is particularly affected by these penalties. Three players from the team have been banned for the remainder of the first segment of the season. To ensure these teams do not exit without a fight, Riot confirmed they are working with the teams to continue participating in the OCS.
Ten players have been banned for “boosting“. This involves accounts that are not yet very high in rank being played by professionals to improve their ranking.
This way, good players can quickly earn some money by playing League of Legends or other competitive games. Many professional players invest so much time in the game that they do not have time to earn money with “normal” jobs.
Therefore, some players offer their skills for boosting purposes and sell them to other players in the community.
For toxic behavior such as trolling, flaming, harassing, and threatening, three players have been banned for two competitive weeks each. You can find the penalties listed on the official website of LoL-eSports-Oceanic: 16 player bans on oce.LoLeSports.com
This new game mode is only available for a short time in League of Legends
