According to reports from Daily Mail, a 13-year-old boy from Brazil strangled himself because his teammates jokingly encouraged him to do so. He was playing with a group of friends who could see each other via webcam. After a loss in League of Legends, it seemed to be the group’s tradition to “punish” a member.
The punishment ended fatally
The player group urged the 13-year-old Gustavo Detter to strangle himself. They could watch via webcam as he accepted and enacted this punishment. In the live feed, the other players could see how this joke suddenly turned serious and Gustavo Detter lost consciousness. The cousin, who was in the house at the time, was called directly by one of the other children. When she ran into the boy’s room, she found him unconscious. His parents then called an ambulance, which immediately took him to the hospital. One day after he was taken to Ana Costa Hospital, Gustavo Detter died.
