For the second time in a row, the Korean team SK Telecom T1 (SKT1) has won the League of Legends World Championship, defeating Samsung Galaxy (SSG) in an exciting 2-3 series. SKT1 has now won three of the last four World Championships. Contributing significantly to these victories are Faker and Bengi, who have gone down in League of Legends history as an absolute dream team.
SK Telecom T1 Strategy – How SKT1 Wins One World Championship After Another
In summary, SKT1’s strategy could be compared to that of a nimble rabbit darting to escape the fox. Faker, often a target for ganks as a dangerous mid-laner, evades them with ruthless ease. He quickly jumps aside, dodging many abilities and continues playing as if the enemy jungler was never in his lane. This applies to the whole SKT1 team. They dodge attacks and abilities until the situation is favorable for them – and only then do they strike!
The Grand Finale Recap – SK Telecom T1 vs Samsung Galaxy
SSG was the final opponent that SKT1 had to face this year. In the first game of the 2016 Worlds finals, SKT1 was able to dictate the pace and extend the match into the 50th minute. Even though SSG’s mid-laner Crown was playing at his peak, they could not force SKT1 into a bad teamfight and lost round one. After this loss, SSG had to adjust their strategy and tried a new setup in the second game. However, it was without success. Time and again, it seemed that SKT1 – especially Faker – had a counter ready and won the second game. SKT1 clearly dominated the start in game three, methodically winning one lane after another. However, SSG suddenly managed to win a crucial fight at Baron Nashor and secured it as well.
With the loss of Baron, SKT1 lost more and more control and thus also game three. In game four, Samsung Galaxy managed to win the early game for the first time. SKT1 could not recover from the early game and had to face SSG in the final round In game five, it became apparent that Samsung Galaxy and SK Telecom T1 were evenly matched opponents. It was back and forth in a close game. But SKT1 managed to secure the Baron and the Elder Dragon, thus wrapping up the match with a victory.

SKT1 is back on top – cool, down-to-earth, and dominant. They are the champions of the 2016 World Championship. Now we can only be curious about what skins the design team comes up with to honor the winners. After so many victories, that might not be easy. Faker has wished for a SKT1 Ahri since 2013, which he has never received. Maybe the design team should grant him that to give other teams a chance at victory. 😉
