In League of Legends, the new champion Kindred is already generating excitement even before its release.
Kindred will be the next champion in League of Legends. Rarely has a concept excited fans beforehand as much as that of Lamb and Wolf. Riot is also trying something new narratively.
Normally, the champions of LoL are easily categorized: Archer, Paladin, Knight, Evil Pirate, Hot Pirate Babe, Young Daredevil, Frankenstein Killer made from body parts, Necromancer with a penchant for heavy metal, Guerrilla Dwarf with Blowgun, Rat in Armor, and so on. The usual stuff.
In contrast, Kindred seems to be an adaptation of Ying and Yang, two souls residing in one breast, which only together form a unit. They are in constant dialogue. Especially the excellent texts and the voice acting are already making waves even before the champion’s release:
The mixture of childlike joy and innocence that the Lamb radiates, and the threatening, primal growl of the Wolf create a dense atmosphere. It seems as if the Lamb thinks, and as if the Wolf feels. The dialogues suggest that they are not just forming a Ying-Yang system, but far more than that, having a shared story. They seem to emulate death.
